If you know Darcee, then you know she LOVES Ferris Wheels! 🎡
So much so that we often search them out when we travel - especially if there is something unique or special about them.
So, it was an absolute must for her to ride the Wiener Riesenrad Ferris Wheel in Vienna! One of the world's oldest Ferris wheels - it was built in 1897 to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Emperor Franz Josef I. Like a lot of
#Vienna it was severely damaged in WWII, but luckily they restored it to its former glory - however, only 15 gondolas were replaced, rather than its original 30. 🚠
The Vienna Ferris wheel stopped for the first time in 73 years due to the coronavirus pandemic. On May 29, 2020, it was ceremoniously put back into operation by Vienna's Mayor to set an example for Vienna's awakening.
Pro Tip: Riesenrad is part of
#PraterAmusementPark, expect to spend an entire day taking in the sites and enjoying the park - which was built and opened to the public in 1766 🎠
