World-class cravat museum near the world's shortest funicular elevates the Croatian capital

London, 22 July 2024 - A unique museum dedicated to tie, the Cravaticum – Museum Boutique of the Cravat located in downtown Zagreb officially launched in June 2024. The museum's concept and ethos is to illustrate the  historic significance of neckties, and contribute to the world-wide promotion of Croatia, as a homeland of the cravat.

Despite its focus on a 400-year-old artifact, this treasure house of ties is far from outdated. Cravaticum celebrates both the introduction of a cravat, brought to the world by the Croatian soldiers in the 17th century, and evolution of this fashion accessory to the present day. Crafted and curated in a contemporary, engaging, and visually captivating 130 square-metre area, it encapsulates its time travel, artfully narrated through artistic works of contemporary local artists. From immersive uniforms of a Cravat regiment to innovative designs of Juraj Zigman, the renowned Croatian fashion designer who has worked with Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, Rit U.O., Cristina Aguilera, Cardi B, and others.

The engaging exhibits also emulate an artistic approach to the interior design as well as versatile and unexpected exhibits. Some of showstopper items on display include the tie made of bulletproof material, insight into silk moth cocoons and threads under a microscope, a 3D exhibit featuring horses, and many others.

"Learning should be fun, especially for the younger crowd, which is why this museum is designed to share numerous facts and stories about ties in an entertaining and interactive way," Igor Mladinović, one of the museum's co-owners, explains.
