June 21, 2024 (San Francisco) — There's a reason Mark Twain is still incorrectly quoted as saying “the coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco.” While other parts of the country are sweltering, average summertime highs in San Francisco range from 60 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit, making the City by the Bay a refreshing escape from the heat.
Those looking to cool down can explore the city's iconic sites, scenic nature, walkable neighborhoods, exciting culinary scene, and vibrant arts and culture while taking advantage of summer promotions, night markets, festivals and new activities.
San Francisco boasts over 250 hotels; here is a sampling of summer offerings from properties across the city:
The San Francisco Marriott Marquis's “Stay Longer and Explore SF Summer” package includes a minimum two-night stay in a Premium Suite and a private three-hour city tour for two in an air-conditioned car along with a chef curated summer picnic basket. Guests can select either “The Classic Expedition” tour highlighting iconic landmarks or “The Trendy Tour of the City by the Bay” featuring Instagram-worthy spots like the Mission District and Haight Ashbury.
Kimpton's Hotel Enso is offering a “Homerun” package featuring two-night accommodations, two tickets to a San Francisco Giants home game at Oracle Park, an immersive Oracle Park tour experience, roundtrip car transportation to and from Oracle Park, and a pregame Fan's Kit with gameday essentials including sunscreen, a clear bag and a Giants ballcap

For its “Splash + Spin” package, LUMA San Francisco has partnered with SpinOut Fitness to offer a one-of-a-kind aquatic experience that takes travelers sightseeing by way of waterbike. Set in the Mission Bay neighborhood, the SpinOut Fitness experience departs from South Beach Harbor Marina (within walking distance from the LUMA) for a one- to three-mile excursion taking in San Francisco landmarks including the Bay Bridge and Ferry Building.
The Palace Hotel, A Luxury Collection Hotel, is featuring a “Family Connecting Room” package that includes two connecting rooms with a 30% discount on the price of the adjoining Deluxe one-king room. The hotel's heated indoor pool, crowned with a glass roof, features inflatables during the summer and activities such as “Dive-in Movie Night” on Saturdays.

In addition to exclusive offers, The Hyatt Regency San Francisco is paying homage to the city's iconic cooler weather with its creatively named "Calling Karl Cocktail," featured on the Eclipse Happy Hour menu. The distinctive drink with dry gin, lime juice and ginger beer is a nod to "Karl the Fog," the affectionate nickname locals have given to the dense fog that frequently blankets the city.
