Winchester is a haven for foodies, especially this summer with two tasty treats for visitors and locals to sink their teeth into.
Hampshire Fare, the county's food, drink and craft group, is organising the second Winchester Food Festival. This culinary extravaganza will take place on Sunday, July 14, in the picturesque Outer Close of Winchester Cathedral.
The festival is FREE to attend and is a celebration of the finest local produce from the Winchester District and beyond. It will have a vast array of stalls, activities for all ages, and chef demonstrations. Attendees can indulge in a diverse selection of local delicacies, including micro-greens, smoked trout, cheeses, honey, peanut butter, beer, sparking wine, gin, fudge and ice cream.
This year, the Winchester Food Festival will be preceded by A Taste of Winchester. From Monday 8 to Saturday 13 July there will a delicious line up of foodie events across the district under this banner. Hampshire Fare is working with Winchester City Council to encourage local food, drink producers, makers and hospitality businesses to take part. The line-up of events for A Taste of Winchester is growing daily. It includes everything from tastings to masterclasses to special offers and themed menus. There is a chance to try your hand at sourdough baking, chocolate craft and even urban foraging. Tastebuds will be tingled sampling local cheeses paired with wine, a celebratory Winchester themed pie or even whist enjoying a local bacon roll and locally roasted coffee with views across the South Downs.
Winchester Food Festival is supported by Winchester BID and Winchester Cathedral and is made possible thanks to the generous support of local businesses including Lexus Hedge End, John D Wood and Clarke & Son.
