The Paw-fect Rural Retreat: The Ferry House expands its dine & stay offering for our furry friends, ensuring their every need is catered for.
Indulge in a well-earned retreat and bring your cherished canine companion along! The Ferry House is a rustic and luxurious country boutique hotel and 2AA Rosette restaurant set beside the Swale estuary in Harty, Kent. With 4 of the 11 individually-styled rooms dog friendly, it offers an idyllic stay for those seeking a foodie's escape that caters to your dog's every need, with beautiful coastal walking trails to enjoy together. You no longer need to pack a car full of doggy gear, this pet-friendly haven provides all the essentials, ensuring your furry friend is treated like royalty.
Your dog(s) will receive their own welcome pack, which includes complimentary dog treats, dog toys, a cosy dog bed for the night and a food bowl to use during their stay. If that wasn't enough, The Ferry House has now introduced a delicious new dog menu from Sir Woofchester. The dog menu features high quality meat and grain- free options including 'Sunday Roast', 'Fish & Chips', 'Bark Bangers', 'Bark Brew Beer (chicken flavour)' and 'Paw Star Martini (chicken and passionfruit)'. Prices start from £3.
While you are enjoying seasonal dishes from the a la carte menu in the restaurant, your dog is welcome to curl up at your feet. You can expect to enjoy home-grown menus born of the 1.5 acre Kitchen Garden, family farmed beef and local game.
After a tasty meal, your beloved pup will need to run off some energy, The Ferry House has recently unveiled a spacious new dog exercise paddock just a short five minute walk up the road at their Mocketts Farm self-catering cottages. This dedicated area allows your dogs to frolic freely. The booking system guarantees private use of this paddock. It's the perfect setting for them to expend their energy, ensuring they're blissfully tired and ready for a restful night's sleep. Use of the dog paddock is free for those staying at The Ferry House, although pre-booking is required.
Victoria Burden, owner of The Ferry House says:
“We take a very dog-friendly approach here at The Ferry House in Kent, both in our restaurant and in some of our boutique rooms. Our beautiful country and coast setting means that we regularly receive walking enthusiasts and diners for overnight stays. For many of them, their dog is part of the family and exploring the landscape with them is a part of the enjoyment. We find that the dogs we welcome are very well behaved and love warming up in front of our fires during the winter months, while keeping some of our rooms dog-free continues to cater well for those with dog hair allergies. Our new dog menu has also been well received, by dogs and people alike! Our guests love to treat their pets and involve them in the dining experience - and the dogs certainly don't disagree!”
For a holiday where you can bring all the family, choose between a luxury B&B staycation in one of 4 individually styled ensuite rooms or opt for a self-catering break in one of five cottages at Mocketts Farm, just five minutes from the main hotel. Overnight B&B stays are priced from £125 per night, with great value last minute and mid week rates also available

Editors notes:
Located on its very own little island – The Isle of Harty – and separated from the Isle of Sheppey by a small road causeway and the rest of Kent by a larger crossing, The Ferry House has been described as 'the nearest faraway place to London'. The family owned rustically refined country restaurant, boutique hotel and wedding venue is set in a beautiful wetland hideaway beside the Swale estuary in a secluded corner of Kent that's just 60 minutes from the Big Smoke and with excellent road links from the M2 and M20. Sited in the hamlet of Harty, The Ferry House might just be Kent's best kept secret.
The onsite 16th-century country restaurant recently became one of only 21 in Kent to be awarded a 2AA Rosette for Culinary Excellence and boasts two 'Taste of Kent' awards. Serving up the best of culinary Kent with a strong 'Plot to Plate', 'Field to Fork' and 'Grain to Glass' ethos, expect to enjoy ultra-seasonal home-grown menus born of the 1.5 acre Kitchen Garden, nearby family farm, and local estate. Think family farmed beef and game and award-winning farm-grown spirits.
