Ferments From Face To Plate: QT Wellington Teams Up With Antipodes On High Tea Inspired By Probiotic Skincare

QT Hotels & Resorts

QT Wellington launches a glowing high tea concept that nourishes from the inside out, with its 'Nourish Me' High Tea in partnership with natural skincare experts, Antipodes. Served at Hippopotamus Restaurant, the high tea sees perfect petit fours crafted from the same hero ingredients used in Antipodes skincare, including a focus on probiotics and New Zealand native ingredients. Each guest who indulges in the high tea will receive a full-sized Antipodes Culture Night Recovery Water Cream, valued at $70.

With inspiration taken from bioactive ingredients in the Antipodes range, QT Wellington's Executive Chef, Antoine Collet, has crafted a menu of sweet and savoury pastries. On offer are flaxseed and avocado tarts, spirulina and goat's cheese mille feuilles, kawakawa and orange duck croquettes, and banana, kiwi and honey cakes complete with a pineapple crisp to nourish and delight. Also on the menu are kefir-laden lox bagels and citrus tarts with kombucha gel to harness the power of microbiotic marvels.

“I was impressed by the range of natural ingredients used in the Antipodes range, but most interesting to me was the idea that probiotics are used in skincare. For this menu, I created a gel of kombucha tea and fermented a kefir cream cheese, so guests are getting a double dose of probiotic goodness – both from what they eat, and from the skincare itself,” says Executive Chef, Antoine Collet.

Probiotics have long been praised for their gut health benefits but bio ferments have recently made their way into skincare. Far more than a buzzworthy beauty trend, these powerful active compounds are backed by science, boasting anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties. Antipodes' Culture range is scientifically shown to support the skin barrier by sealing the skin's epidermal layers and balancing the microbiome.

“As two Wellington institutions that are focused on top quality ingredients, Antipodes is proud to once again work alongside QT Wellington to bring a special flavour to the cooler months,” says Antipodes founder and CEO, Elizabeth Barbalich.

Nourish Me High Tea is available from $69 per person at Hippopotamus Restaurant, Saturdays and Sundays from 11 May to 28 July. Sittings are between 1pm and 3.30pm.
