Bedrock's Decked Out Detroit and Library Street Collective present SKALAR: Reflections on Light and Sound, a kinetic art installation coming soon to 1001 Woodward Avenue. Guests will experience a 30-minute intricate interplay of light and sound based on the vision of light artist Christopher Bauder and musician Kangding Ray.
SKALAR is a collective, yet highly individual, emotional journey facilitated by a mesmerizing choreography of mirrors, light and sound. The captivating audio-visual narrative of radiant light vector drawings by Bauder and Ray are projected within a pitch-dark space, where viewers are invited to explore a spectrum of emotions—from exhilaration to introspection.
"SKALAR aims to illuminate the abstract nature of human emotions and our perception of reality. It reminds us that our experiences, though internal, are no less real,” says Bauder.
This awe-inspiring installation, made possible by Bedrock, Library Street Collective, WHITEvoid and Kinetic Lights, is the debut of SKALAR in the United States, and an homage to Detroit's rich history with techno music.
"Through the fusion of light and sound, SKALAR seeks to evoke pure synesthesia, blurring the boundaries between sensory experiences,” notes Ray.
Admission is free; reservations are highly encouraged.
