Monaco is set to captivate visitors in 2024 with an array of exciting events and experiences that showcase the Principality's charm and sophistication. From the opening of lush dining venues to the revamp of famed wine cellars, Monaco keeps reinventing itself whilst keeping its DNA alive. Here are just five reasons to get excited about Monaco this year.

  1. New gastronomic openings and reopenings

Gastronomic restaurant at Hôtel Métropole Monte-Carlo “Les Ambassadeurs by Christophe Cussac” has reopened
A century after the original venue closed its doors, Chef Christophe Cussac has reopened Les Ambassadeurs at Hôtel Métropole Monte-Carlo! The beautiful Belle Epoque establishment invites you to a convivial culinary experience paying tribute to the 1920s with modern and inventive Mediterranean-style cuisine.

Gastronomic Smakelijk, the new Belgian brasserie at Le Méridien Beach Plaza
Smakelijk! Meaning “bon appetit,” is a jovial and gourmet Belgian neo-brasserie offering guests a journey to Belgium by creating a memorable tasty experience.

The new Blue Bay Restaurant
One of Monaco's best-known restaurants: the Blue Bay, has been transformed. Awarded a second Michelin star in 2022, the restaurant has had a full makeover. A new layout, new décor and new terrace opened its doors mid-February and better reflects the inspiration and ambition of Chef Marcel Ravin, at the helm of the Blue Bay since 2005.

Fine Japanese dinning L'Abysse to open a 'sister' restaurant at Hotel Hermitage Monte-Carlo
A thrilling addition to Monte-Carlo SBM's culinary offerings in the Principality will be an intimate, fine dining Japanese restaurant in the heart of Monaco's Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo. The current Crystal Bar will give way to this new gastronomic destination, created by multi-Michelin starred Chef Yannick Alléno. Expected opening: Summer 2024

Renovation of the cellars of Hotel de Paris Monte-Carlo
Another exciting announcement involves Monaco's hidden goldmine. The vast wine cellars that tunnel beneath the Hôtel de Paris to the Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo and house over 350,000 bottles of the finest wines. These legendary cellars, reserved exclusively for private events, will be renovated, and opened to as a museum, with exceptional dinners, organised in partnership with some of the world's leading wine brands, and guided tours to complete the offering.

Amazonico Monte-Carlo
Located on the spacious rooftop of the newly transformed Café de Paris, Amazonico arrives in the Principality with its Latino-Brazilian vibe and lush backdrops. The go-to nightspot popular in Madrid, London and Dubai will be a new highlight on Place du Casino, at the heart of a unique setting and offering creative cuisine that mixes tropical and Latin American influences. Expected opening: 4 April 2024

Turner exhibition at the Grimaldi Forum Monaco
The Grimaldi Forum will dedicate its 2024 summer show to William Turner with an exhibition titled “Turner: a sublime heritage”, from 6th July to 1st September. Forty-odd oil paintings and as many watercolours will be shown alongside the works of contemporary artists to highlight the influence of the English artist's approach to light and atmosphere.

Polar Mission exhibition, Oceanographic Museum of Monaco
As part of commemorations marking the centenary of Prince Rainier III, the Oceanographic Museum is hosting until 31 December 2024 a huge exhibition tracing more than a century of life in the Arctic and Antarctica: “Polar Mission”. The museum has created an immersive experience that takes visitors on a five-stage journey to the poles, culminating in a vast 650m² projection room that brings the beauty and fragility of the polar worlds to life like never before.

  • Rolex Monte Carlo Masters: One of the oldest and most prestigious clay court tennis tournaments.
    Dates: 6 to 14 April 2024
  • Monaco E-Prix : The electric single-seater championship takes place 27 April 2024
  • Monaco Historic Grand Prix: Classic racing cars speed along the legendary circuit that winds through the streets of the Principality. Dates: 10-12 May 2024
  • Formula 1 Grand Prix de Monaco: The Principality will once again play host to the most famous motor race of all. Dates: 24-26 May 2024
  • World Rugby Repechage tournament: The World Rugby Sevens Repechage tournament for the Olympic Games Paris 2024 will take place in Monaco's Stade Louis II. Dates: 21-23 June 2024
  • Energy Boat Challenge: Monegasque waters will host the 10th Monaco Energy Boat Challenge. A motor boating event unique in the world that aims for a sustainable future. Dates: 1-6 July 2024
  • Tour de France 2024: All eyes will be on Monaco on 21July 2024, for the climatic final stage of the Tour de France!
  1. Off the beaten track

Skydiving in the Principality
Thrill-seekers can now launch themselves into the skies above Monaco with Skydive Monaco, a branch of Hag Time organising out-of-the-ordinary experiences in Monaco. A Monegasque Clément Fabre co-founded Hag Time with Sébastien Carbillet, a former military man with 14 years' experience in professional parachuting. Skydive Monaco offers skydiving experiences with a special twist: jumping out of a helicopter provided by partner Héli Air Monaco.

Coming in 2025 and beyond

Mareterra – Monaco's new district to open
Designed as a continuation of the current coastline extending from the Grimaldi Forum to the Formula 1 Grand Prix tunnel, Mareterra is a new district currently under construction that will transform the Principality by adding six new hectares. Highlight attractions will include a Prince Jacques Promenade along the seafront with a unique mineral atmosphere, a blue cave that will allow the curious a glimpse into the internal workings of the new structure, a relaxation space, gardens, villas, and residential buildings.

Extension of the Grimaldi Forum Monaco
A key venue in the events industry, the Grimaldi Forum Monaco will benefit from the ambitious Mareterra district starting in 2025. The Principality's convention and cultural centre will see its exhibition capacity increase by 50%, adding 6,000 m². This extension will enable the Grimaldi Forum Monaco to host larger-scale events, all with a view over the Mediterranean from the Ravel terrace.

Monaco Awarded in European Best Destination 2024

Achieving over 12% of the vote (133,885 votes), travellers from around the world ranked Monaco in 2nd position out of 500 European destinations. Organised by the non-profit organisation Best European Destinations, and based on the vote of over one million travellers from 172 countries, Monaco has been ranked second best destination to visit in Europe in 2024, ahead of Geneva, London and Florence. This year's #2 destination, Monaco, was shortlisted as a Sustainable Destination for its commitment to sustainable tourism and protection of the ocean.
