Monaco Awarded in European Best Destination 2024

Achieving over 12% of the vote (133,885 votes), travellers from around the world ranked Monaco in second position out of 500 European destinations.

Organised by the non-profit organisation Best European Destinations and based on the vote of over one million travellers from 172 countries, Monaco has been ranked second best destination to visit in Europe in 2024, ahead of Geneva, London, and Florence. This year's number 2 destination, Monaco, was shortlisted as a Sustainable Destination for its commitment to sustainable tourism and protection of the ocean. It is indeed a sustainable destination with a proactive development policy, led by H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, which is driven by the mission to be carbon neutral by 2050.

Monaco has been focusing on green development for many years and the destination continues to expand and honour its commitment to nature,” said European Best Destinations. “It is seen as a perfect destination for a green getaway combining wellness, gastronomy, shopping, beach, water activities and outdoor sports. A unique destination, Monaco reflects the perfect marriage between glamour, culture, and relaxation. Renowned for its security, it also surprises with the richness of its history. The organisation recommends Monaco for a romantic stay, a family trip, or a getaway with friends because it has a diversity of the hotel offerings to meet all expectations.”

We are thrilled about this title as it recognises Monaco's commitment to sustainable tourism and the quality of our partners' offers and services. This distinction reinforces Monaco's status as one of the European leaders in tourism.” said Visit Monaco's Regional Director Australia & New Zealand, Alison Roberts-Brown.
