Sugar-coated peaks, bright blue skies, regional delicacies and snow-sure pistes: Its high location makes Zillertal the perfect destination for spring skiing.
Looking for perfectly groomed slopes, endless freeride opportunities – or a mix of both? Tirol’s Zillertal attracts skiers of all skill levels and walks of life. Some of the resort’s highlights include the family ski area Spieljoch, Hochzillertal and the Zillertal Arena with its two resorts Ahorn and Penken. Taking elegant turns in the snow is also possible on the slopes of the Finkenberg Almbahnen or the Eggalmbahnen in Tux. At the back end of the valley, 365 days of skiing fun await – only at the Hintertux Glacier in Austria!
SOAK UP THE SUN AND ENJOY REGIONAL DELICACIES
Skiing is always a pleasure, but it gets even better with mild spring temperatures. Over 80 huts all around the resort invite skiers to take a break on a sun terrace and enjoy regional delicacies. There are hardly any limits in terms of culinary experiences as the Zillertal offers, besides the rustic mountain huts and traditional restaurants, contemporary high-end cuisine right in the heart of the villages. What all these foodie hotspots have in common? Their focus on regional quality products.
The early bird catches the worm – or, in this case, the first rays of the rising sun. Attractive offers for early risers allow holidaymakers to take their first turns on untouched slopes before anyone else. The high location of Zillertal’s ski areas plays a significant role in making it so attractive for spring skiers. The Zillertal Superskipass, including all mountain railways, lifts, ski buses, and most public transport in the valley, makes the perfect travel companion.
COLD PISTES, HOT EVENTS
Known as the most musical valley in the world, Zillertal’s unique music festivals make sunshine skiing an even more unforgettable, feel-good experience. The international DJs of the Alpicon House Music Festival turn exclusive ski huts in Hochzillertal, Hochfügen, Fügen and Kaltenbach into dance floors, while the Hintertux Glacier Open Air sees numerous bands create a buzzing atmosphere at Sommerberg. At the traditional Lederhosen Wedl Weekend in the Zillertal Arean it’s all about dirndls and lederhosen, whereas the Snowbombing festival is a must-experience for party fans: The event has been taking place since 2000 and transforms Mayerhofen into an open-air dance zone featuring more than 70 top-notch international live acts.
