Singapore, 23 November 2023 – Phil Smith, the recently appointed General Manager of PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay, Singapore, brings with him a wealth of experience in the luxury hospitality industry. With a career spanning over 38 years, Phil has established himself as a seasoned professional in the field, having gained extensive exposure across various countries, including New Zealand, Canada, China, Malaysia, and Singapore.
In 2020, Phil joined the Pan Pacific Hotels Group, initially taking on the role of General Manager at PARKROYAL Penang in March 2020. Subsequently, in February 2022, he was transferred to the iconic PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering, Singapore, before assuming his new role as General Manager at the renowned award-winning PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay, Singapore, on 1 November 2023.
Prior to joining Pan Pacific Hotels Group, Phil's notable tenure includes a 34-year-long career with FRHI HOTELS & RESORTS (Fairmont Raffles Hotels International), now part of the ACCOR LUX Group. Between 2014 and 2019, Phil led the opening teams at Fairmont Chengdu Hotel and Fairmont Chengdu Residences as General Manager, following his opening of Fairmont Yangcheng Lake, a 240-acre urban resort in Kunshan, China, from 2008 to 2014.
Prior to moving to China, Phil worked at the Fairmont Algonquin in St. Andrews, New Brunswick, Canada, a luxury seaside resort and championship golf course, where he held the position of General Manager and Director of Operations from 2000 to 2008. His journey with Fairmont began earlier in the Canadian Rockies, where he gained valuable experience working at Canada's renowned luxury resorts and iconic landmarks, the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel and Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, from 1985 to 2005, where he held several manager and executive leadership positions in Food & Beverage and Conference Services & Catering.
