The worlds of Ikebana, gastronomy and mixology harmoniously collide in Yamagen’s revitalised Secret Garden, in full bloom this November at QT Gold Coast. Poised poolside, Yamagen’s terrace will transform into a radiant retreat under a canopy of cherry blossoms, nature's ephemeral works of art, and Japanese-inspired décor.

To coincide with the launch of Yamagen’s Secret Garden, on Saturday 25 November, Ashby Flowers’ head florist will lead a 90-minute masterclass in the rich tradition of Ikebana, the art of Japanese arrangements. Guests will create their own floral compositions, through intricate combinations of blooms, branches, leaves, and stems.

Fawning over their fresh floral art, a selection of dishes from Yamagen’s spring and summer Secret Garden menu will follow, alongside flowing Roku Gin spritz cocktails that have been curated to herald the cherry blossom.

The distinctive izakaya menu, curated by award-winning Executive Chef Adam Lane, includes house made Wagyu gyoza with miso mustard, popcorn prawns with spicy yuzu dressing and chicken karaage.

Lane says, “I had a lot of fun putting together this menu, playing with innovative flavours that really showcase our distinctive Japanese share-style cuisine, and of course designed to be enjoyed poolside on our outdoor terrace.”

With Roku Gin as the centrepiece, Yamagen’s mixologists have created a refreshing roster of seasonal cocktails made for garden grazing and dazing. The Senbonzakura combines Roku gin, red shiso, cherry blossom, Hirohito’s Secret Garden muddles Roku gin, lavender, lemon, sage and the Ume no Hana is a tropic mix of Roku gin, hibiscus, Umeshu, lemon.

Amid a spectacle of splendour, indulge in the Secret Garden until the end of summer.
