Industry veteran will introduce new travel and lifestyle club and concepts

Singapore and Tokyo (25 October 2023) Wyndham Destinations, the world's largest vacation ownership business and part of Travel + Leisure Co. (NYSE:TNL), has appointed Frederick “Eric” D'Ignazio to oversee its operations in Japan as Vice President, Operations. A seasoned commercial leader with unique experience including comprehensive hotel management and operations in start-up and scale-up scenarios, as well as corporate advisory, Eric will be instrumental in shaping and executing the company's growth strategy in the region. Among Mr. D'Ignazio's key responsibilities will be the introduction of a new travel membership and lifestyle club, Club Wyndham Asia (CWA), to consumers across Japan, as well as driving operations for hotels in the company's hotel management portfolio.

“Growing this important, vibrant market requires a special kind of leader who understands the distinct aspirations and attitudes of both local and international travelers and who can deliver unique experiences that surprise and delight them - Eric is just such a leader,” said Barry Robinson, President and Managing Director International Operations, Wyndham Destinations.

Wyndham Destinations accelerated its entry into the Japanese market at the end of 2019 by acquiring Resort Frontier Co. Ltd., and assuming the management of 16 properties across Japan as well as the Sundance Resort Club, a points-based vacation club with more than 9,000 members. This year the company announced it will elevate the end-to-end experience at the 239-key Ramada Encore by Wyndham Amagasaki which, along with the Wyndham Garden Sapporo, will be accessible to CWA members from around the world. Wyndham Destinations is a preferred hotel development partner for Wyndham Hotels & Resorts in Asia Pacific.

Originally from the United States, Mr. D'Ignazio followed his love for Japan by studying Management and Japanese and receiving a dual Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University in 2004. Since then, he has distinguished himself in the market as a highly respected executive at global brands including Accor and IHG, as well as a trusted advisor to the Tokyo Government.

Eric remarked, “Japan not only remains a bucket list leisure destination for people everywhere but is also becoming known as one of the best places in the world from which to work remotely,* so it is an exciting time to be introducing a new club and lifestyle concept here.”
