LATAM Airlines Records 44% Increase in International Travellers for August 2023

14 September 2023 - LATAM Airlines reports a significant uptick in its passenger numbers for the month of August. Compared to August 2022, the airline saw a 16.3% year-over-year increase in total passengers, reaching a new high of 6.7 million. The most notable growth was in international travel, which soared by 44.1%. Meanwhile, the airline also reported solid growth in domestic markets, with SSC flights (Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru) rising 14.2% and Brazil's domestic flights experiencing a 9.7% increase. 

Over the first eight months of 2023, LATAM has now transported an impressive 47 million passengers.

Operations measured in available seats – kilometers (ASK) grew by 16% compared to August 2022 and during the first eight months of 2023, capacity increased by 23.7% compared to the same period of 2022. 

Passenger traffic measured in revenue passenger-kilometers (RPK) grew 18.6% compared to the same month in 2022, highlighting the 33.9% increase on international routes. So far this year, the LATAM group increased its RPK by 25.3%.

For LATAM Cargo, capacity (measured in available ton-kilometers - ATK) increased by 9.3% compared to August 2022, reaching 596 million available ton-kilometers.
