Debbie Haynes, Wildlife SOS commented “India's wildlife is under severe threat, every animal from the majestic elephant to the rare pangolin have fast become “the hunted”. Time is running out for these creatures, it is therefore ever more important that we all play our part in raising awareness and make an actual physical difference.
Wildlife SOS is thrilled to be partnering with the innovative social enterprise Charitable Travel. It is only by working collaboratively that real change can happen. Impressed by Charitable Travel's unique way of creating travel-for-good I believe that our animals will benefit by way of the additional funds generated from these trips, but also by raising awareness of the importance of us all working towards sustainable methods of travel and living.”

Melissa Tilling, Founder and Chief Executive at Charitable Travel, said: “We are thrilled to combine touring and volunteering in this way, working closely with a leading charity doing great work in animal welfare. As a social enterprise this trip fits perfectly with our social purpose of supporting fundraising, this time through the donation that comes when customers book but most importantly giving up their time to help care for elephants and sloth bears whilst gaining the experience of a lifetime".

Notes to Editor:
Charitable Travel: Founded in April 2020, Charitable Travel operates the same as other high-end travel agencies, with one key difference. The social enterprise will donate 5% per cent of the cost of the holiday - usually charged to generate profit - to a charity of the customer's choice, via a partnership with JustGiving. Charitable Travel's mission is to make travel “a force for good.” Whether it's a city break or a beach getaway, holidaymakers can rest assured that their booking supports good causes.
Incorporated as Fundraising Futures Community Interest Company (CIC) in November 2019, trading as Charitable Travel, the CIC is the first 'mainstream' leisure travel company to launch in the UK market. Operating as a 'travel-for-good' company, certified by Social Enterprise UK, Charitable Travel is a leisure-focused retailer offering direct customers an array of holidays, hotels, flights, and ancillary products whilst trading with purely social objectives. Company surpluses will be invested in charitable causes rather than being driven by the need to maximise profit for shareholders and owners. Charitable Travel is a Worldchoice Plus member of The Travel Network Group.
Wildlife SOS (WSOS) is a non-profit charity established in 1998 with the primary objective of rescuing and rehabilitating wildlife in distress across India. We actively run wildlife and nature protection projects to promote conservation, and combat poaching & illegal wildlife trade. We work in partnership with the Government and indigenous communities to create sustainable, alternative livelihoods for erstwhile poacher communities.
