Traditional British Eccentricity at Its Best – Expenses Paid Press Trip over St George's Day Weekend

Vale & Spa

Experience Britain's Beautiful Blossom Trail & The British Asparagus Festival on Our All-Expenses Paid St George's Weekend for You & A Plus One

Japan may have its famous cherry blossom, but nothing compares to the Vale of Evesham's 55-mile spectacular blossom trail featuring apple, pear, cherry, plums, damson and blackthorn blossom through April and May and celebrating its 40thanniversary in 2023.

What's more, Worcestershire is asparagus country and home to the world-famous and entirely quirky Asparagus Festival. Immerse yourself in two-days of epicurean delights, weird goings-on, hands-on activities and even a meal at James Martin's famous new restaurant.

Friday 21st

Arrive at lunchtime and visit the world's purest salt works to be found in Droitwich Spa including samples to take away and potentially some award-winning ice cream!

Saturday 22nd – Earth Day

All aboard the Blossom Express (well, it's a coach) to enjoy the blossom trail, partaking of blossom cider and other blossom themed nibbles en route. Hear from our very own Plum Charmer as to how he uses music to encourage the orchards to burst forth plentifully.

Enjoy some down time before heading to Deer Park Hall for a stroll around its unique vineyard followed by a Worcestershire wine tasting. Experience spectacular views whilst watching red and fallow deer roam. And of course, there'll be delicious food too.

Sunday 23rd April – Saint Georges Day AND National Asparagus Day

Today the eccentricity scales up a notch on as you head to the only pub owned by the National Trust, The Fleece at Bretforton - home to the start of the asparagus festival. The day celebrates the first-cut round of asparagus.

Breakfast in ye olde barne featuring bacon and asparagus baps whilst feasting your eyes on Morris Dancers. Have your fortune told by the asparamancer, be hugged by Gus the Asparagus Man (not obligatory) plus a multitude of eclectic shenanigans. You'll then alight your personal, chauffeur driven classic car as the asparagus round is taken in almost holy deference to Broadway, capital of the Cotswolds.

Here at the world-famous Lygon Arms, you'll enjoy your final repast of the weekend at James Martins' newest restaurant. Enjoy a quick amble around Broadway before heading back to the hotel for final farewells.

The Small Print

A total of 6 places plus the plus ones available. We would expect a piece to be written about the area, the Blossom Trail or the Asparagus Festival within the following 12 months. Deadline for places is Friday 3rd March at 4pm.
