One of Norfolk's most picturesque cottages, Spink's Nest is located to the north of the county and provides the perfect getaway for those looking to escape everything this summer and enjoy the best of the British countryside. Over two years in the making, the painstaking restoration of this gardener's cottage dating back to the mid 18th century, is the very definition of rustic luxe. Using curated, reclaimed and vintage materials and objects throughout, it's the juxtaposition between traditional textures and materials alongside premium upholstery and fabrics that truly secures the cottage's extraordinary charm. Centuries old exposed flint walls, lime-rendered surfaces, reclaimed oak beams and clay Norfolk pamments are complemented by Mulberry Home curtains, Designers Guild linen and towels, and a Woolroom wool mattress and bedding. A sunken micro-cement bath-for-two (inspired by traditional Japanese onsens), alongside a reclaimed iroko vanity surface which extends to a built-in toilet surround and seat and fully restored traditional Victorian cistern ensures the bathroom's reclamation credentials. The cottage also offers enticing add-ons such as a Haeckels Seaweed Bath (+£18) to enhance the spa-like experience should guests so choose.
During the summer months, the top half of the stable-style front door can be thrown open as visitors prepare their morning brew and rustle up some Norfolk Grey scrambled eggs, or enjoy sundowners in the private outdoor area behind the cottage before pottering down the road to the The Hunworth Bell to enjoy dinner in the pub's garden.
Spink's Nest is located in the ancient hamlet of Hunworth, which dates back to the Domesday Book, within the Glaven Valley home to the River Glaven, a chalk stream of around 10 miles in length. A 15-minute drive from the coast, Spink's Nest is perfectly located to enjoy all of north Norfolk's varying terrains and associated walks, the beautiful nearby towns and villages including Holt and Burnham Market, as well as a plethora of culinary hot-spots showcasing Cromer and Sheringham crabs, Brancaster oysters and Morston mussels, as well as some of the country's best asparagus and other vegetable produced by the surrounding rich farmland.
Spink's Nest sleeps two (with space for a travel cot), is dog-friendly and is priced from £175 night (min. 2-night stay) and Ana the owner is also a great spokesperson for recommendations in the area as showcased in her Guides on the cottage's Instagram (includes 20 Top Experiences in North Norfolk and Antiques & Vintage Shopping in and around Holt).
