New Rydges Hotel Coming to Rotorua
EVENT Hospitality and Entertainment have been named as the new operator for NZ Hotel Holding's most recent property in Rotorua.
The property will be refurbished and renamed as Rydges Rotorua, while the existing Rydges property on Fenton street will be rebranded as a stand-alone hotel under the Independent Collection by Event brand.
EVENT Hotels and Resorts general manager for New Zealand operations, Simon White, says the team is excited to take on this new property. “We are looking forward to bringing a fantastic new Rydges offering to Rotorua that can be enjoyed by locals, travelling Kiwis and international visitors alike. Rotorua is such a special place and we are excited to once again partner with NZ Hotel Holdings to bring quality accommodation, food and beverage, and conferencing options to the area.”
The property, which was previously Holiday Inn Rotorua, will become a Rydges Hotel from July. Owned by NZ Hotel Holdings and managed by Russell Property Group, EVENT secured the RFP to operate the hotel.
Russell Group managing director Brett Russell said the RFP process was very competitive and they were confident appointing Rydges to operate the hotel would be a positive step forward. “Our partners at EVENT are experienced hotel operators with a proven track record as our operating partners at QT Auckland and Rydges Wellington, and we are confident that the transition can occur without disruption to operations, and without interruption to an attractive offering for visitors to Rotorua and users of the hotel.”
The new Rydges hotel will welcome guests from July.
