TravMedia's Sixth Annual IMM North America 2022 safely brings together 500 Media and Industry in New York, after a two-year travel hiatus

New York City – More than 500 media and PR industry representatives attended TravMedia's sixth annual International Media Marketplace (IMM) North America, which took place at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City on Thursday, January 27, 2022.

With enhanced health and safety protocols, IMM North America connected more than 265 North American media with 235 Public Relations professionals representing more than 200 international travel brands. They met in the sunny, all-glass River Pavilion on the top floor of the Jacob K. Javits Center. Collectively, participants held more than 4,000 pre-scheduled, one-on-one appointments – plus 4.5 hours of open networking across multiple catered events.

The largest delegation and Premier Partner, Visit California, showcased 27 destinations, products, hotels, and experiences in the 'Visit California Pavilion.'

The day prior to IMM, the second annual TravMedia Summit convened 200 media and industry thought leaders to delve into present and future trends.

Insightful panelists for Perfect Pitch included Paul Brady, Articles Editor, Travel+Leisure; Elaine Glusac, New York Times Frugal Traveler; and Mike and Anne Howard, HoneyTrek.

They were followed by Keynote Speaker, Doug Lansky, who shared smart tourism concepts centered around responsible tourism and tips for destination marketers.

Annita Thomas moderated the Diversity, Equity, Accessibility & Inclusion panel with, Erin E. Brown, Disability Inclusion Consultant; Uwern Jong, Experientialist in Chief/Editor-in-Chief at OutThere Magazine; Martinique Lewis, Diversity in Travel Consultant and President of Black Travel Alliance.

The Slam with Travel Editors included Anne Banas, Editor at BBC Travel; Arnie Weissmann, Editor at Travel Weekly; and Starlight Williams, Associate Editor at National Geographic Travel. They shared insights on their respective outlets and key issues of our industry.

The DMO Panel was moderated by Amir Eylon, President & CEO, Longwoods International. He brought together Emily Lauer, Vice President, PR and Communications; Tori Emerson Barnes, Executive Vice President, Public Affairs and Policy, U.S. Travel Association; and Tom Kiely, President & CEO, West Hollywood Travel + Tourism Board. They discussed Covid Recovery and Reopening to the World: Customer trends shaping the future of travel.

Corendon Hotels and Corendon Mangrove Beach Resort created a relaxing environment in their resort themed Media Lounge and supplied travel toiletry kits to the media.

Visit Costa Rica kept delegates caffeinated, and gave them a place to connect and recharge with a Costa Rican coffee cart activation at both events. 

Visit California also hosted the official cocktail reception for media and VIPs, which showcased wine and cheese from California. Angie Pappas, Director of Public Relations, Visit California thanked their 27 partners and TravMedia for bringing everyone together.
