After a successful rollout of the program in Australia in September 2021, IHG Hotels & Resorts is proud to announce a suite of new, industry-leading benefits to its hotel employees in New Zealand.
Branded myBenefits, the industry-leading program includes hallmarks such as flexible work arrangements, as well as paid parental and partner leave, birthday leave, and the ability to use personal leave for proactive wellness. Sabbatical leave is now available for colleagues to pursue personal or passion projects.
Covid-19 has prompted businesses to look at different ways of working and IHG has been actively seeking new ways of attracting people to hospitality while doing all it can to retain talent it currently has. Currently, IHG has 6 hotels in New Zealand and four new hotels opening in the next 18 months, including Holiday Inn Queenstown Remarkables Park, Holiday Inn Express Auckland City Centre, voco Auckland City Centre and InterContinental Auckland, set to open in 2023.
With staff attraction and retention becoming a key issue for the hospitality industry worldwide, IHG is proactively doing all it can to make it one of the most attractive places to work.
In addition to myBenefits rewards, IHG colleagues will have access to the IHG myPerks platform which carries discounts and cashbacks with New Zealand's most well-known retailers and service providers. It also gives employees access to an online Wellbeing Hub which contains “Move, Mind, Money and Munch” content, which is designed to support staff with their physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
Leanne Harwood, IHG's Managing Director Japan, Australasia and Pacific, said “We launched myBenefits to our Australian hotel colleagues in September and the feedback we received from colleagues, industry and owners was phenomenal, and we've been keen to launch the program in New Zealand ever since. People who work in hospitality know that it's a fantastic place to grow a rewarding career, but we recognise that, now more than ever, we have to do everything we can to make the most compelling proposition for people to join or stay in our industry. Part of that is making sure we are offering our employees the most attractive benefits and working conditions
“Covid-19 has without a doubt brought flexibility into all of our lives and this is a good thing. We don't want to lose this effect as we know our colleagues have appreciated the benefits this has brought to their lives, so we have consciously worked in Flexible Work Arrangements into the way we operate hotels
“As well as offering flexible work arrangements, we are so excited to be also providing great benefits like enhanced paid parental leave and paid partner parental leave, and bolstering our Wellness offerings through our myPerks platform. We hope it will give our New Zealand colleagues a fuller sense of belonging and comfort, and increased confidence that we are committed to helping them have a long and fulfilling career with IHG.”
myBenefits and myPerks are available to all IHG employees at participating hotels.
