Destination NSW

Whether you use social media to document your travels or prefer to keep your snaps to yourself, we all love a photogenic stay. From a seaside boutique hotel to transparent tents perfect for stargazing, here's a selection of Instagrammable stays in Sydney and surrounds that will leave you and your followers feeling amazed and excited.

Hotel Ravesis, Bondi | @hotelravesis

A stay at Hotel Ravesis in Bondi is all about beachside glam, bikinis and bling. The two levels of hotel suites above the lively corner hotel opposite Bondi Beach are decorated Palm Spring-style with putty pinks, ottomans to lounge on post-swim and big beach views from petite Juliet balconies — in other words, Instagram gold.

Jonah's, Northern Beaches | @jonahswhalebeach

There's nothing like an idyllic infinity pool to generate a few likes, and Jonah's at Whale Beach, a one-hour drive north of central Sydney, has a doozy. The boutique hotel, a Northern Beaches institution for more than 90 years, had a complete refurbishment in 2017 and the 11 rooms now feature parquet flooring, textured wallpaper, a neutral colour scheme and rich gold accents. Don't miss a meal at the award-winning restaurant, washed down with something from the 1,600-strong wine list.

QT Sydney, city centre | @qt_hotels

For a sultry stay in the heart of Sydney, the QT Sydney has salon-style rooms and a rich history. Housed in the former Gowings building designed by famed architect Crawford H Mackellar, the facade has been returned to its gothic glory, while the dimly lit interiors showcase eccentric objet d'art. The rooms and suites shy away from the typically pale palette of city hotels, with charcoal bathtubs and crimson faux fur throws.

The Old Clare Hotel, Chippendale | @theoldclare

A former brewery and Art Deco hotel transformed into a boutique hotel, The Old Clare Hotel has become a popular inner city stay with high ceilings, delicate lighting and a fantastic rooftop pool. Save room for a five- or seven-course degustation at in-house restaurant Automata (pronounced like thermometer), where dishes are just as photogenic as the décor.

Love Cabins, Blue Mountains | @lovecabins

Nestled in 243 hectares of UNESCO World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains bushland, 90 minutes' drive northwest of Sydney, Love Cabins comprises seven uniquely designed and ultra-'grammable cabins. These include the Enchanted Cave, which is set into the bedrock, and the Wollemi Wilderness Treehouse, which is perched in the bush canopy. There's even a Love Tee Pee, and call cabins come with a spa.

Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel | @watsonsbayboutiquehotel

At the northern tip of Sydney's Eastern Suburbs, Watsons Bay is one of the city's most exclusive neighbourhoods. With its Hamptons-style guest rooms and Mediterranean-esque beach club, the iconic waterfront Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel was made for the 'gram. Better yet, the hotel is best reached by an equally 'grammable 25-minute ferry from Circular Quay. Stay for sunset, when the city skyline is bathed in dreamy pink and orange hues.
