June 2021 / Inhabit Hotels is a hotel brand with a heart for community, a head for life-enhancing hospitality, and wellness wisdom to share. Building on the success of its first property, Inhabit Southwick Street, which opened in the capital in 2019 and is Green-Key certified, the Inhabit team is growing its mission to create restorative, environmentally and socially conscious places to stay in the city, with a second London hotel slated to open its doors this Autumn.

The new Inhabit property is located a stone's throw from its sister hotel, within a series of Georgian townhouses on a leafy corner of Paddington, W2. It will offer considered spaces, nourishing food and beverage, and hosts that share a passion for maintaining a healthy mind and body. Expect to see an expanded wellness area with treatment rooms and yoga studio on the lower ground floor, and light, spacious guest rooms and suites on the upper levels.

Everything has been mindfully designed for the modern traveller, with a genuine commitment to environmental initiatives and meaningful community partnerships with more than 20 social enterprises and small, socially conscious businesses. 

Art and design

Holland Harvey Architects, Caitlin Henderson Design and art curators Culture A have collaborated with Inhabit Hotels to create the tranquil new space, with 159 fresh, uplifting guest rooms, including connecting family rooms and 10 delightful suites. The hotel will have a relaxed style, fusing contemporary Scandi inspiration and Eastern twists with quintessentially British design.

Inhabit showcases the ingenuity of craftspeople and makers, working with more than 30 makers and artists. Award-winning sustainable social enterprise Goldfinger has produced bespoke joinery for the hotel, whilst the hotel's art curator has worked with Somerset House Studios and Makerversity to select artworks by emerging and established artists to compliment and enhance the meditative mood of the hotel. Interiors include Myanmar's Kalinko Homewares and Studio 306 Cushions from Aerende, made by people recovering from and living with mental health illnesses.

Wellness

Wellness, seen as more than a physical state, but as a way of being, is at the heart of the Inhabit brand. The new hotel will champion social connectedness, intellectual expansion, environmental responsibility, physical and emotional wellness and occupational enrichment. An engaging series of regular workshops, lectures and events will be curated to help guests recharge, invigorate, connect and learn.

A wellness centre will host daily activities, including vinyasa flow and yin yoga, Pilates and complimentary morning meditation classes. The gym provides not only the basics, but also has its very own Peloton Bike. Guests can join live classes with leading instructors, streamed directly from Peloton's NYC studio, or choose from a library of studio workouts. Spa treatments will be offered within serene treatment rooms - more details on these are to be announced. And a partnership with Tokyo Bike allows guests to rent bicycles and helmets to explore the city on two wheels during their stay.

Community

Inhabit supports local social enterprises who share a passion for wellness and commitment to sustainability. The new hotel's community of collaborators includes Self Care Co., Goldfinger, Be For Change, Globechain, Women Returners, Belu Water, Con-Serve, Who Gives a Crap, IQAir and many more.

Inhabit is currently working towards B Corps accreditation for its Southwick Street property and will seek to do the same at the new hotel. If achieved later this year, Inhabit will be the first hotel group in the UK to achieve this eminent standard of corporate responsibility, an accreditation for businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability to balance profit and purpose.

Neighbourhood

The well-connected neighbourhood is perched between two Royal Parks, Notting Hill and the West End. Local highlights include the green spaces of Hyde Park, the thriving business hub of Paddington Basin, and the Grand Union Canal. Paddington station is a five-minute walk away, with national rail connections and the direct Heathrow Express airport link.
