
Grand Hyatt Melbourne is pleased to announce that Fredrick Arul has been appointed as the new General Manager. Fredrick joins the property from Hyatt Hotel Canberra – A Park Hyatt Hotel, where he worked as General Manager from September 2015, his first Hyatt posting.
Fredrick has an impressive record of leadership and commitment to quality, with more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry in Australia and abroad. He began his hospitality career as a room service attendant at Hotel Excelsior, in Ipoh, swiftly rising through the management ranks at Le Charly's Restaurant in Vevey, Switzerland; Hilton Kuching in Malaysia; The Regent Kuala Lumpur; Hotel Istana Kuala Lumpur; Cascades Sun City in South Africa; Shangri-La China World Hotel in Beijing; and Meliá Bali.
In 1998, Fredrick progressed to General Manager for the first time at Meliá Benoa in Bali before advancing to the Meliá head office as Corporate Director of Food and Beverage. He became General Manager at Meliá Purosani Yogyakarta based in Indonesia in 2001 and later moved to Meliá Hanoi, Vietnam, in the same position in 2004.
Fredrick became Assistant Vice President of Hospitality Services at Laguna Phuket in 2007, then moved in the same role to Banyan Tree Samui in 2009. In 2011, he became Executive Vice President of Branded International Hotels at TCC Hotels Management in Bangkok.
