The Maldives has Commenced the Administration of the COVID-19 Vaccine
The Maldives has commenced the administration of the COVID-19 vaccine as of 1st February 2021. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih was one of the first to receive a dose of vaccine, along with frontline workers and other government officials. As of 25th February, 98,311 people have been vaccinated in the Maldives. The government aims to provide free COVID-19 vaccinations to all citizens and residents of the Maldives in the coming months and the Ministry of Tourism has launched an initiative to vaccinate workers in the tourism sector to create an even safer scenario for the industry.

The Maldives Breaks Record by Welcoming Over 5,100 Tourists on a Single Day
The Maldives welcomed a record-breaking number of over 5,100 tourist arrivals on a single day. The Ministry of Tourism revealed on 21st February 2021 the island nation witnessed over 5,100 tourist arrivals. The previously held record was observed on 14th February 2021 when the Maldives counted a total of 4,856 tourist arrivals. As of 24th February, a total of 173,393 tourists have arrived in the Maldives and at present, India and Russia are the leading source markets for the destination.
