The Africa Hub

Launching today, The Africa Hub is a first-stop, authoritative and invaluable resource on Africa for Tour Operators and agents - specialists and generalists alike.

The Africa Hub is an online platform hosting webinars from experts – DMCs and other specialist partners (Zambian Ground Handlers, New Frontiers Tours, Great Lakes Safaris and Bush Tracks Africa amongst others) - giving impartial, in-depth presentations of a very high standard, along with pertinent, easy-to-digest content including suggested itineraries, maps and comprehensive fact-files.

As a continent Africa has multiple tourist bodies of differing levels of prominence, so The Africa Hub meets a gap in the market for impartial, cohesive, continent-wide information.

The Africa Hub will help those selling Africa to expand their knowledge and navigate dynamic and unpredictable times. It is equally relevant as a means to keep up to date with the latest information; as a comprehensive training tool; and as an invaluable resource to help with the bounce-back demand for Africa as people plan to travel again.

Whilst conceived primarily with a trade audience in mind it is also accessible for any interested consumer undertaking their own travel research into destinations in Africa.

WHY THE AFRICA HUB?

The Africa Hub soft launched in late 2020 as a sub-brand of Small World Marketing, a specialist Africa representation company.

Small World Marketing has been hosting client webinars for over 10 years and these have a very established trade following. During 2020 they witnessed significant audience growth in their client webinars, with 2,000 new trade contacts, many of whom were non-Africa specialists. It quickly became evident that there was demand for pan-African destination information and training - potentially in part due to the fundamentally different sales landscape arising from Covid. Hence the idea for The Africa Hub was conceived.

Hand-picked destination specialists were invited to come on board with the inaugural concept to present on selected initial destinations, including Botswana, Zambia and South Africa. These webinars gained an average of 300 registrations per session. The interest & reaction was affirmation that a comprehensive, expert-led, virtual resource of this nature serves a real need, and The Africa Hub is today launching in its own right, with its own dedicated website and brand. Six different destinations go live, with five more rolling out, to have covered all of Southern and Eastern Africa by the end of the first quarter 2021.

With its own peerless network, and supported by an Advisory Panel of industry contacts, including the CEO of ATTA and a handful of leading Africa specialist tour operators, The Africa Hub team identify the right collaborators for every destination. In addition to country coverage there will also be themed topics, for example 'Family Travel' or 'Most Intrepid'.

MD Anita Powell remarked:

“The industry anticipates unprecedented demand for Africa when people are able to travel again, and The Africa Hub helps open up the opportunities of the whole incredible continent. Through our network of specialists it offers expertise, insights and a wealth of practical information to those selling Africa post Covid.”

"Zambian Grounds Handlers is proud to have been invited to be an early partner of The Africa Hub. It gives us the opportunity to show off what we do best and to be a part of something that aims to bring together real travel industry expertise from across the African continent, into one place. We fully expect The Africa Hub to develop into an essential resource." - Zambian Ground Handlers

"As someone who is just starting their education on Africa, I was completely overwhelmed with the research I was finding on the internet. I really needed simple, yet informative, overviews and The Africa Hub is exactly that! - Travel Leaders
