Carbis Bay Hotel, Spa and Estate Crowned Best Coastal Hotel and Best Wellness Hotel in Prestigious Llm Readers' Travel Awards

Carbis Bay Hotel & Estate

Carbis Bay Hotel, Spa and Estate has been crowned the winner of Best Beach/Coastal Hotel and Best Spa/Wellness Hotel in the prestigious LLM Readers' Travel Awards 2020.

Beating stiff competition from across the UK to take the coveted title, the Carbis Bay Hotel, Spa and Estate is located in a sheltered cove on St Ives Bay on the north coast of Cornwall.  It impressed well-travelled readers of the online publication with its impeccable contribution to the UK's tourism industry, inspiring judges and readers alike, to become the well-deserved winner of the accolade.

Set within 125 acres, the Carbis Bay Estate comprises the luxury Carbis Bay Hotel with 38  individually designed rooms, as well as a range of self-catering accommodation and serviced apartments including luxury beach lodges and suites set against the backdrop of the Estate's privately owned golden sandy Blue Flag beach. Facilities at the hotel include the C Bay Spa offering coastal-inspired treatments, a Sunseeker yacht for private excursions, fabulous al fresco dining at the Mediterranean-styled Beach Club and fine  dining  at Restaurant 1894 with panoramic views across the ocean towards Godrevy Lighthouse and the distant horizon.

Owners, Stephen and José Baker, are busy completing a new two-storey spa extension, complete with a new gym, treatment rooms and outdoor swimming pool, directly overlooking the Bay, with a scheduled opening date of Easter, 2021. This enhanced spa, nestling in one of the most beautiful bays in the country, will heighten Carbis Bay Hotel & Estate's position as one of the UK's leading wellness retreats.

The awards, run by LLM - Luxury Lifestyle Magazine - in partnership with Blue Bay Travel, saw thousands of readers deliberating over the shortlisted nominees of some of the industry's most astonishing travel destinations, show-stopping hotels, cruise lines, tour operators and the like across a variety of travel-related categories. This year the awards attracted a total of 21,876 individual votes.

Designed to reward the travel industry elite for excellence in a number of categories, nominees were narrowed down by an expert panel of judges according to a strict set of criteria, before being set free on discerning readers to pick their favourite.

LLM editor-in-chief, Nick Gibbens, says that competition was fierce – and that winners should be incredibly proud of their achievements.

We're thrilled to have finally been able to unveil the winners of the third annual LLM Readers' Travel Awards, in partnership with Blue Bay Travel.  The aim of LLM is to encourage all to seek out new adventures, providing them with inspiration to explore destinations and hotels that they've never previously visited, while that of the LLM Readers' Travel Awards is to highlight the crème de la crème of the industry and grant readers a chance to give a shout out to those they visited or used.

“We are so thrilled, humbled and grateful to all who made it their mission to throw their support behind each and every one of our shortlisted hotels, destinations, cruise lines, airlines, airports, tour operators and travel websites, especially in this tumultuous year.

The competition was incredibly fierce and deciding between nominees was tough enough, so we would like to thank our readers for helping us to unearth the victors. We can confidently say that our deserving winners are the very finest the industry has to offer.

Stephen Baker, who owns Carbis Bay Estate alongside his wife Jose, said “In what has been a challenging year for all, I am extremely proud of our team for their dedication and commitment. It is all credit to them that we have been awarded these wonderful accolades. We are committed to ever improving guests' experiences and the level of service at Carbis Bay, and these awards are such a boost”
