PATINA MALDIVES, FARI ISLANDS STRENGTHENS PRE-OPENING TEAM WITH KEY APPOINTMENTS

Patina Maldives, Fari Islands welcomes two key appointments, Marco Den Ouden as General Manager and Simone Broekhaar as Director of Sales & Marketing. With over 40 years of experience between them in the luxury hospitality industry, Den Ouden and Broekhaar bring dedication, passion and creativity to the team as Patina Maldives prepares to launch in Q1 2021.

Patina Maldives, Fari Islands will be the inaugural flagship resort from Patina Hotels & Resorts, a new sophisticated lifestyle brand by Capella Hotel Group. Designed by renowned Brazilian architect Marcio Kogan, Patina Maldives will offer 90 exquisite Beach and Water Pool Villas, ranging from one to three bedrooms, all of which will combine the harmony of sanctuary with stimulating experiences. Situated in the heart of the Fari Islands archipelago, a brand-new development in the North Malé Atoll of the Maldives, a 50-minute speedboat journey from Malé International Airport, Patina Maldives will offer guests the freedom to explore its two neighbouring resorts, allowing a choice between privacy and seclusion, and embracing a vibrant social scene centred at the development's Fari Marina Village and Beach Club.

Den Ouden joins the Patina Maldives pre-opening team from his role as General Manager of Soneva Jani, Maldives, the flagship property of the esteemed Soneva Collection. Prior to his time in the Maldives, he spent four years with the Alila Group, leading teams as General Manager across three of their sought-after properties in Indonesia and China including leading the opening of Alila Wuzhen and Alila Anji, the first of the brand's hotels to open in China, which paved the way for future projects in the country.

Having nurtured a passion for hospitality from an early age, Den Ouden gained a BA in Hotel Management from Glion Institute of Higher Education, before beginning his career with the NH Hotel Group. He later combined his passion for hospitality and dining, opening his own restaurant in Rotterdam, Coopvaert, a highly regarded farm-to-table concept, which was consistently recognised as one of the top three fine dining restaurants in the city.  In 2009, Den Ouden felt drawn back to the hotel industry and accepted an opportunity to become the International General Manager of Jin Jiang Hotel in Chengdu. He also worked as an F&B Hospitality Consultant for the Les Amis Group, channelling his expertise to advise on new concepts, and leading project overhauls to improve overall service and structure. Between 2012 and 2014, Den Ouden was the General Manager of Huvafen Fushi, Maldives, leading a 10-week renovation project to enhance guest offerings.

With a passion for travel and a degree in Hotel Management, Simone Broekhaar has a remarkable track record of spearheading sales and communications strategies at some of the world's most prestigious hotels.  She joined the senior communications team at Patina Hotels & Resorts' parent brand, Capella Hotel Group, as Director of Sales and Marketing of Capella Ubud, Bali. Prior to this Broekhaar was Director of Sales & Marketing for COMO Hotels and Resorts, Bali, and she has held multiple positions at destinations such as the esteemed The Datai Langkawi, Malaysia, The Chedi, Muscat and world-famous international brands such as Swissotel.
