Based on board a traditional yacht, this guide led trip will take guests to some of the most inaccessible parts of the scattered Raja Ampat islands, enjoying quiet beaches and incredible lush greenery as they go. Guests' home for the week is the SMY Ondina, a classic Phinisi boat, built with tropical woods following traditional techniques. This beautiful vessel features eight guest cabins with en suite facilities and air conditioning, as well as ample deck space to relax between swims and enjoy meals from, prepared by a dedicated onboard chef.
It is the perfect base from which to explore some of Southeast Asia's most spectacular waters.
The trip is SwimTrek's second foray into swimming holidays in Indonesia, following the success of their popular Komodo National Park launch in 2018. SwimTrek's Raja Ampat tour instead sees guests exploring some of the lesser visited eastern parts of the country, taking in a more remote route. Starting on Sorong and journeying to Cape Kri, Penemu Island, Dharam Island and beyond, the getaway is a perfect for those who love a sense of discovery and the unknown with their adventure travel.
This tour offers the chance to immerse yourself in bright, vivid blue-green colours of the local landscape and island hop from one beautiful, untouched islet to the next. With the region home to a huge diversity of coral and marine life, as well as bursting with birdsong and lush forests on land, I made the location was simply irresistible for SwimTrek Founder Simon Murie. “With so many islands to see that many others haven't even heard of, this really does feel like one of the world's last true paradises. Taking the unusual view of seeing the Raja Ampat Regency by water seems only fitting to explore this stunning area.”
SwimTrek's pioneering, first ever trips to the Raja Ampat Regency are running in December 2020 and January 2021. Prices begin from £2,690 per person based on a shared room. Packages include fully guided swimming tour, 7 nights' accommodation and all meals. Flights and alcoholic beverages not included.
