Elwin Media Pty Ltd has been appointed publisher of Travel Play Live Pty Ltd, including the title's bi-annual print magazine, website and social media channels. Elwin Media owner and publisher Elisa Elwin said she was delighted to take ownership of the only travel and lifestyle magazine in Australia written entirely for and by women.

Ms Elwin said she understands the power of the female traveller and adventurer. "Since its creation in 2013, Travel Play Live has developed a strong following of Australian women," she said.

With a focus on adventure travel, sustainable tourism, luxury lodges, glamping, wellness retreats and expedition cruising, Travel Play Live aims to inspire readers with personal and meaningful stories about experiential travel experiences, as well as keeping them up to date with information about new tours, high-end accommodation offerings and experiences. Future editions and digital assets will also feature profiles on inspirational women working in the travel and tourism industry, organisations that 'give back' to the community, as well as stories about the latest gear and gadgets, must-read books and upcoming events relevant to a readership of highly engaged experiential and adventure-seeking women.

"With the new team of incredible professional, ethical women in place we are all excited to take the existing core brand to a broader demographic, including travelling and adventurous women of all ages and abilities," Ms Elwin continued.

Angela Saurine will join the team as magazine editor, Fiona Harper as digital editor, while Kara Geyer and Sue Perry from The Media Hut will look after content and partnerships. 

Ms Saurine has worked in the media industry for more than 20 years, starting her career in newspapers in the late 1990s before taking two years off to travel the world. She worked in various rounds at Sydney's The Daily Telegraph before becoming national travel reporter for News Corp Australia (formerly News Ltd) in 2009. She held the role for four years before leaving to pursue a freelance career as a writer and editor.

Ms Saurine said she was thrilled to take on the new position. "Travel Play Live combines all the things I love most about travel," she said. "I can't wait to share informative and inspirational stories with the magazine's loyal fans, and hopefully bringing new readers on board." 

Ms Harper has spent 15 years as a travel and lifestyle media specialist with a particular interest in soft adventure travel and outdoor lifestyles. A keen sailor, hiker, cyclist and marathon runner, Harper developed the highly-regarded Travel Boating Lifestyle blog ten years ago and was a finalist for Travel Photographer of the Year in the ASTW's 2019 Awards for Excellence. She is a regular contributor to print and digital publications across the globe and has worked in digital, content and communications with some of Australia's leading tourism operators. Ms Harper said she was extremely excited to join the Travel Play Live team and take on the challenge of managing the digital assets to support the print publication.

"Women's adventure travel and the great outdoors are both very close to my heart," she said.

"I'm delighted to take this opportunity to inspire women to travel, play and live their ultimate lifestyles. I'm really looking forward to working with the Travel Play Live team and embrace the opportunity to influence women's travel adventures in this terrific publication."

The acquisition adds to Elwin Media's existing family travel magazine, Out & About with Kids, expanding the company's niche travel and tourism portfolio.
