Fashion Show Las Vegas and Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian Resort to Ring in the Year of the Rat With a Celebratory Affair

Fashion Show/Grand Canal Shoppes

The two premier retail destinations on the Las Vegas Strip, Fashion Show Las Vegas and Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas, will ring in the Year of the Rat with a special multi-day Chinese New Year celebration. Featuring comprehensive shopping, dining and entertainment offerings, both properties will soon delight visitors of all ages from around the world with a spectacular array of festive activations in honor of the Lunar New Year.

Fashion Show Las Vegas will ring in Chinese New Year and the Year of the Rat with a celebratory affair, starting on January 26. Guests are invited to celebrate the new year with an array of Chinese-inspired entertainment experiences in honor of Lunar New Year.

The Las Vegas shopping and dining destination will kick off the festivities in The Great Hall on Sunday (January 26). Guests will be able to experience the ultimate Chinese New Year celebration with a variety of cultural performances designed by Entertainment Plus Productions. The two-hour spectacle will feature a customary lion and dragon dance on stilts, followed by a selection of cultural dances and a one-of-a-kind lantern dance show. Fashion Show General Manager Brent Gardner will be on-hand as the lion and dragon dancers parade through the shopping destination to bless and wish good fortune upon each of the department stores and feed the lion money to bring good luck for the new year.

Fashion Show Las Vegas will also feature a lantern dance, available at both The Great Hall and on The Plaza, during its 15-day celebration. The show will be available at The Great Hall and on the exterior digital screens on The Plaza during select times throughout the day (January 26-February 8). In addition, guests will be treated to a spectacular “East Meets West Runway Show” experience (February 1).

East Meets West Runway Show (2, 6, 8 p.m.)

GRAND CANAL SHOPPES

Grand Canal Shoppes at The VenetianÒ Resort Las Vegas will celebrate the Year of the Rat in true fashion with the 9th Annual Chinese New Year in the Desertä on Saturday, January 25. In honor of Lunar New Year, the shopping, dining and entertainment destination invites guests to ring in the new year with four days of live entertainment and activations, available January 23 through January 26.

Guests will be able to revel in the holiday spirit at the 9th Annual Chinese New Year in the Desert(TM) on Saturday (January 25). The celebration will kick off with a special ribbon cutting ceremony at the North Canal Turnaround ‪at 6 p.m. Guests will also be able to experience a traditional lion blessing and dance, cultural performances the Shirley Chen Dance Troupe, and a special appearance by the Shoppes' Love Vespa couple Vespacho and Vespalina. The lion will wish good fortune to the Grand Canal Shoppes' newest venues including KAMU Ultra Karaoke, The X Pot, Atomic Saloon Show, and Smith & Wollensky, to name a few.

Grand Canal Shoppes will kick off the new year festivities at its all-new Wishing Tree installation located in the heart of the Shoppes in the Palazzo tower, with a special red envelope distribution for its guests. Over 100 envelopes will be filled with a special prize from gift cards to chocolate gold coins and more, available daily. In addition, the Shoppes will up the ante with additional activations available throughout the four-day affair (January 23-26) including a traditional Chinese drummer parade, a spectacular lion dance performance, and a Chinese fan dance that has been a part of China's heritage for over two thousand years, each available on select days.

Grand Canal Shoppes will offer a special gift with purchase, January 17 through February 1 from noon to 6 p.m. Guests who spend $350 at stores and restaurants may receive a $50 dining gift card at select restaurants by visiting the pop-up Grand Canal Shoppes concierge location.
