Spectacular New Festive
Light Trail at Stourhead
Thousands of lights will illuminate the night sky as Christmas at Stourhead opens for the very first time on Friday 29th November.
The new mile-long festive trail will showcase 17 Christmas themed installations, including 12 Days of Christmas created by local willow artist Woody Fox, a scented Fire Garden and the sensory splendour of Squid Soup's Feast of Light.
“For the very first time our gardens at Stourhead will be utterly transformed into a magical festive wonderland. We are excited to see the landscape garden lit up and to see the iconic vista in a whole new light,” said Stourhead's General Manager Philip Neimand.
The trail will also feature installations from Australian lighting designers Mandylights including a Laser Garden and the popular Cathedral of Light featuring thousands of bud-lights. Carol of the Bells, which is created from over 550 spheres of light, will light up the grounds and illuminate the famous Palladian Bridge, which featured in the 2005 production of Pride and Prejudice.
Culture Creative's Zoe Bottrell said: “Creating the illuminated trail at Stourhead took almost three weeks of round-the-clock work by our amazing team and nine months of planning and we work with award-winning lighting designers and artists from all over the world to create this interactive and immersive trail.
“We have taken inspiration from Stourhead's stunning landscape and sought to showcase the gardens and parkland in a way that will enchant and delight visitors of all ages,” she added.
Christmas at Stourhead is brought to you by leading events promoter Raymond Gubbay Limited, a division of Sony Music, in partnership with the National Trust (Registered Charity 205846). The trail is created by Culture Creative Limited.

About Stourhead
Stourhead is a Palladian house and world-famous landscape garden. When it first opened in the 1740s, a magazine described it as 'a living work of art'. The world-famous landscape garden has at its centrepiece a magnificent lake reflecting classical temples, mystical grottoes, and rare and exotic trees, and offers a day of adventure.
The history of Stourhead can be uncovered in the house with its unique Regency library, Chippendale furniture and inspirational paintings.
The Palladian house is set amid 'picnic perfect' lawns and extensive parkland (2,650 acres), where chalk downs, ancient woods and farmland are managed for wildlife.
