Double Olympic medallist Tom Daley today officially launched Haven's new developments for 2019 as well as the official partnership between the brand and Team GB, together with Olympic gold medallist, Denise Lewis.
Tom, who is no stranger to taking the plunge from high platforms took a leap from Haven's The Drop, one of the newest activity features at Haven's Craig Tara resort in Ayr, Scotland. Meanwhile, Denise took on the new Crazy Climber showing great athleticism after giving birth to her fourth child earlier this year.
Haven has spent close to £100m since last winter developing its new concepts which will be trialled at five different parks across the UK with the Extreme Jump and the Crazy Climber just two features of the new Lighthouse Harbour Adventure Village.
“It's exhilarating!” exclaimed Tom. “I'm used to diving but that's a whole different experience and not one that you'd expect you can do on a holiday park! I can see it being extremely popular!”
Tom was chosen to do the Drop, not just for his sporting prowess, recently winning bronze in the 10m synchro at the World Diving Championships with diving partner Matty Lee and qualifying three Team GB places at the Olympics next year, but also because he is one of Haven's national ambassadors for their partnership with Team GB in the run up to Tokyo 2020.
Talking about the partnership Tom said: “Haven is a great partner as they are all about celebrating British coastlines and holidays, and Team GB is all about celebrating British sporting success. It's exciting to see all the new developments coming to parks and I'm looking forward to enjoying a family holiday with my husband and son as I did with my family when younger.”
National hero, Denise, was also selected as an Ambassador for the Haven and Team GB partnership due to her outstanding Olympic success and as importantly her family values. Haven puts families first, and as a mum of four, she's well-placed to experience the thrills of action-packed coastal holidays at Haven.
Denise commented: “Seeing the fantastic new facilities has opened my eyes to all the activities we can do as a family on holiday - both indoors and outdoors. It is exciting to think of the sporting path someone might follow after trying something new on holiday, and I can't wait to see these developments arrive in other parks around the country”
The Lighthouse Harbour Adventure Village at Craig Tara has a range of adrenaline filled activities, from The Extreme Jump – a simulated base jump of 12 metres with a body harness – to the new indoor Crazy Climber wall, Adrena-Line zip wire and an indoor Play Village to inspire the imagination of younger holiday makers.
“We are delighted with the new Lighthouse Harbour Activity Village as part of our parks of the future developments,” commented Gerard Tempest, Director of Business Development for Haven. “We have invested heavily in five of our parks over the winter and will be reviewing the different concepts with a view to rolling these out further in 2020 and beyond.”
In addition to the new developments at Craig Tara, Haven has also invested in four other parks across the country.
Hafan y Mor in Pwllheli in North Wales is home to the new Dragon Lakes Adventure Village. This multi-functional outdoor activity zone now plays host to a huge array of activities including 4x4 off-roaders, climbing wall, Segway Adventures, Aerial Adventure and Mini Aerial Adventure for tots, and Boat Adventures on the adjacent lake.
Away from activities Hafan y Mor also has some brand new dining facilities open to guests and holiday home owners to enjoy. The brand-new Coast House bar and grill is a table service dining concept centred around the grill and rotisserie ovens to deliver a range of food to suit all tastes, while the Cakery which is perfect for those with a sweet tooth as it serves up cake by the giant slice – large enough to share – as well as ice creams and coffee. There is something to suit all tastes, from the family-friendly 'HMS Glendower' pub to the delicious delights cooked in a traditional wood burning oven in the Pizza Deck.
In Norfolk Seashore Holiday Park features the new Shore Water Park. Bursting with aquatic fun for the whole family they can splash the day away with 2 flumes, a multi-lane slide and a confidence water toddlers pool. It has fun aquatic features, with a giant tipping bucket and an aqua play area with spray jets and slides. The waterpark has two new 11-metre-high flumes Tidal Twist and Coastal Cyclone which is the first double constrictor slide in the UK! It also has a separate lane and activity pool for those who may want to do lane swimming, but is also ideal for those wanting to try activities such as Aqua Jets and Pool Kayaking. Seashore Holiday Park, like Hafan y Mor also features the new Coast House and Cakery too.
Also in Norfolk, Hopton's show bar has been transformed into a fantastic Marina Lounge offering a multi-purpose events arena. Used through the day for a range of fun activities and then as the perfect venue for night time entertainment, the beautiful venue has a welcoming feel for all the family. Hopton also has a new indoor play and amusement area.
Finally at Haggerston Castle in Northumberland, the new garden atrium houses a range of restaurant and amusement activities. From the new multi-level indoor play area, to the interactive virtual reality experience, there is something for everyone.
All of Haven's new developments are open for the busy summer holiday season with the company looking to announce 2020 roll outs at the end of the year.
