UXUA Casa Hotel

UXUA Casa Hotel & Spa is delighted to announce its partnership with Royal Ballet trained dancer, Karis Scarlette, who will be in residence from 2 to 17 August 2019.

Since 2009, Karis has cemented herself as the go-to lady for adult ballet training in London, changing how classical ballet is perceived in the fitness community and counts Hollywood actors, singers, models, athletes and royalty amongst her clients. With her classes proving a huge success, the chance to experience one of Karis' workshops in this paradisiacal setting – and discover a love of dance - is truly not to be missed.

The Brazil Ballet Retreat will incorporate traditional ballet techniques, artistry and strength training to ensure guests achieve their personal fitness goals, whilst learning in a relaxed environment surrounded by UXUA's lush, tropical gardens. There will also be group classes inspired by the Royal Ballet's most famous works, with special Baby Ballet sessions for children. Karis will hold Guided Meditation and Stretching sessions at the beach for those seeking improved flexibility and a sense of absolute relaxation.

Commenting on her upcoming residency Karis enthuses: “Ballet is a highly focused and empowering art form that benefits all areas of one's life, from fitness and wellbeing, to memory, concentration and grace. Not only are my classes carefully curated to focus on improving posture, strength and flexibility, but I also aim to build guests' confidence through a holistic and friendly approach.”

To complement the ballet classes, guests are also invited to try capoeira, a traditional Brazilian martial art. The practice combines elements of dance and acrobatics for further strength, coordination and flexibility training under the guidance of UXUA's resident Capoeira Master. Post workout, guests can unwind at UXUA's Alméscar Spa with a Lymphatic Drainage Massage or Signature Relaxation Massage with Alméscar Oil. UXUA's resident nutritionist Jullian Hamamoto has designed a specific Wellness Menu to accompany the programme.

Karis Scarlette's Brazil Ballet Retreat is part of UXUA Casa Hotel & Spa's ongoing Artist in Casa programme. Inspired by the hippies and artists who rediscovered Trancoso in the 1970's, the programme intends to bring artists from across the globe to Trancoso for short residencies that both inspire the artist and transmit a new appreciation for art and culture to guests and village locals. Previous artists include Irish leather craftsman, Mark Inglis (November 2013), Dutch designer, Peter Kempkens (April 2015), US filmmaker Damian Calvo (May 2018) and UK illustrator and animator Joey Yu (July 2018).

Guests can book the Brazil Ballet Retreat from R$15,750 (approx. £3,027) for three nights based on two adults sharing a luxury UXUA Studio. The package includes:
