Taste Sonoma County's award-winning, eat-fresh philosophy

Sonoma County Tourism

SONOMA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA — From those touting a Michelin star (or three) to ones cooking in local diners or modest food trucks, chefs find a place in Sonoma County to create, to make, to feed people.

In this land of plenty, the earth and sea provide an abundance of delicious ingredients — organic vegetables, humanely raised meats, freshly caught seafood, and delicious fruits that are sweet enough to be dessert on their own.

Sonoma County has its share of kudos in the cooking world, which elevates the region's culinary stature. And the constellation of Michelin stars keeps getting brighter. The Michelin Guide San Francisco, Bay Area & Wine Country honors are coveted awards for fine dining quality and its stars have long been considered among the most prestigious culinary accolades.

SingleThread in Healdsburg has been awarded three Michelin stars for the 2019 guide, an honor so rare there are only 15 three-star restaurants in the U.S. That makes it the first restaurant in Sonoma County to ever win this honor. As the Guide notes, SingleThread has risen to the top of Sonoma County's dining scene since its opening in 2016. The talented couple behind this powerhouse project has shown consistent commitment to the highest standards of ingredient quality and exceptionally refined cuisine.

And other Wine Country restaurants have been awarded one Michelin star. It's clear — Sonoma County, California is a food-lover's paradise.

Eating options at Sonoma County's 500-plus restaurants range from casual Wine Country cuisine to top gourmet fare, ethnic favorites to diner grub  all with an eat-fresh philosophy that offers visitors a true taste of Wine Country.

It's no wonder that famed horticulturist Luther Burbank had this to say about Sonoma County, I firmly believe, from what I have seen, that this is the chosen spot of all this earth as far as Nature is concerned.

His words, said in 1875, still ring true today. Visit Sonoma County soon and get a taste of what Burbank was talking about.
