Gartmore House has just launched a new 2020 brochure to cope with demand for courses such as knitting and crochet, or patchwork and quilting. These keen crafters are not shy to come on their own, or bring friends with them - it's almost akin to a 'friends' holiday' - everyone on the course is learning together in a relaxed environment, and the House prides itself on offering a 'home from home' atmosphere.
Did you know you can take your hobby on holiday? Historic 18th Century Gartmore House offers residential craft and activity holidays in the heart of Scotland's Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.
Courses include knitting and crochet, patchwork and quilting, painting, sewing, felting, lace making, willow work, photography and hill walking. These 'hobby holidays' are increasingly popular, and Gartmore House is extending their programme for 2020 to accommodate demand from keen crafters, who journey from as far afield as Canada and New Zealand to enjoy the courses one of Scotland's most breath-taking regions.
With friendly tutors on hand, courses are suitable for all levels - you can learn a new craft or simply come along with a tricky project or perfect a new technique. All the while relaxing with good food and company (full board is included). This grand old Dame of a House offers 23 cosy en-suite rooms with tasteful Scottish touches of tartan. Classes take place in the light and airy studios - including the Cayzer Room and the Russell room - named after the noble Caledonian families of the area.
Gartmore House is surrounded by 75 acres of private estate, home to deer and red squirrels, with a network of walking and cycle paths on the estate's doorstep - perfect for exploring the rugged mountains, serene lochs and hidden glens of the Queen Elizabeth Forest.
'We can't believe the rise in popularity of the 'hobby holiday' - we're already receiving requests for 2021 - people want to come to Scotland to enjoy the peace and quiet, have everything taken care of for them, but they also want to leave having learnt something new and they are proud to bring a beautiful creation home with them to show off to their family and friends'.
