The two biggest names in baseball go head to head at the London Stadium this summer on June 29th-30th. Watch the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees compete in a two-day series as Major League Baseball makes its London debut.
The Red Sox vs Yankees rivalry is one of the most notorious in American sport spanning 119 years and over 2,000 games. With the Boston Red Sox holding the current World Series Championship and the New York Yankees regarded as the most successful team in sports history, this meeting is set up to be a classic.
Alongside the games in London, fans can expect an exciting line-up of activities in and around the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, along with food and drinks from the United States and a traditional halftime spectacle.
Dominique Kotsias, the UK Account Manager for Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism says, “We are thrilled that people in the UK are going to get a taste of the sports scene in Massachusetts, here in London. We hope this will encourage them to travel to Massachusetts to experience the sports scene in the state, and witness teams playing and competing on their home ground. For instance, the Red Sox call Fenway Park in Boston home and it's the oldest Major League Baseball stadium – seeing a game live in these historic surroundings is a great authentic experience.”
For those inspired by the Red Sox match in June, sports fans may want to turn their attention to what else is coming up in 2019 throughout Massachusetts.
