This Shocktober half-term, York's SHOCKolate Story are celebrating the scariest time of year with a host of frightening features and events.
Count Fectionery will return with his Trick or Treat Walking Tour. Alongside the maniacal Miss Terry, he'll weave terrible tales along the spooky streets of York. Brave children will be put to the test with ghoulish games and sinister samples. Along the way, hidden histories of some ghastly confectionery giants will be revealed, such as Kit Bat, Terry's All Ghould and Rowntree's Fright Pastilles. Children and big kids alike are encouraged to some along in their best Halloween fancy dress and enter Count Fectionery's Creepy Costume Competition.
The tour starts at St Andrewgate, just across from York's SHOCKolate Story and runs from 20th-31st October, 1pm, 3pm and 5pm. Children are £5.99 and adults are £4.99. Tickets can be booked online (www.yorkschocolatestory.com) or at the attraction.
This most horrible of holidays will be celebrated throughout the attraction as well. Guests on the guided tour will unearth the secrets behind confectionery's sometimes poisonous past, as well as how beloved brands were connected to bloodcurdling events long since passed. Afterwards, they'll be chance to make the most sinister chocolate lollies you'll ever see, complete with a selection of revolting toppings. The bravest folk can spin the Wheel of Misfortune and get either a delicious treat or a disgusting trick chocolate.
The shop and café will be full of frightfully tasty fancies, with autumnal fresh chocolates, such as pumpkin spice, parkin, ginger and maple syrup. Keep an eye out for limited-edition hot chocolates, with seasonal and spooky varieties.
