September Events in Genoa

With September around the corner and the schools heading back into the autumn term it's time for child-free city breakers to take advantage of cooler temperatures, quieter cities and lowering prices.

With Genoa just over an hour and a half away from the UK it's the ideal late-summer break; guaranteed sunshine, gastronomic delights, history and culture and even better – it's one of Italy's lesser-known city gems.

Genova Città dei Festival, all month

This flagship event runs throughout most of 2018 with more than 40 festivals taking place focusing on the themes of music, theatre, dance, literature, visual arts and science and technology.

27th Annual Mediterranean Music Festival, all month

This festival is part of the Genova Città dei Festival, combines music with dramatic, historical locations – making it the perfect way to experience the city and see some live music! This year sees the festival celebrating its 27th anniversary, with a focus on EurAfrica music and styles and the blending of the historical with the contemporary.

Concerts will take place in the cobbled streets of the Old Town and in the courtyards and palaces of the Via Garibaldi.

International Boat Show, 20th – 25th September

The relationship between Genoa and the sea is long-standing and critical to the city's history and culture. The boat show is one of the world's leading flagship events for the yachting and sailing sector and focuses on showcasing emerging designers and exhibitors displaying new technology and innovation. As well as over 1,000 boats on display there will be a 'Sea Experience' area where visitors can get involved trying out all the new watersports, toys and gadgets and join in challenges and tournaments!

“Piano No Stop”, all month

This summer Genoa again hosts “Piano No Stop”, a free series of concerts taking place throughout the region of Genoa from Nervi to Certosa, from Sestri Ponente to San Gottardo and the city centre, proving a great way for visitors to see beyond the heart of the city and explore the coastline and interior.

The programme continues right through into September culminating in a recital by Music Box, when on September 22nd at 6pm Music they will perform in the iconic via Garibaldi.
