
New for this summer
The chef Laurent Petit, who has two Michelin stars for his restaurant Le Clos des Sens in Annecy-le-Vieux, is opening a brasserie this summer. He is taking over the famous Café Brunet in Annecy-le-Vieux, which has been a favourite among locals since 1875! It will be open seven days a week and will serve food all day long on Sundays (until 10pm).
The pretty village of Menthon-Saint-Bernard, by Lake Annecy, has a new restaurant. L'Osmose du Lac offers seasonal à la carte dishes as well as a 'plat du jour' for around €12. Sushi Fumi is a new restaurant in La Clusaz offering Japanese food with a Savoyard twist: Californian rolls with Beaufort, walnuts and blueberries, maki with local goat cheese and local honey. They do take away as well. www.laclusaz.com
The Abbey of Talloires is a historical building by Lake Annecy, in the beautiful village of Talloires. The Abbey is 1,000 years old this year and, to celebrate its anniversary, the restaurant has a new chef, Christophe Le Digot, who used to be at the Auberge du Père Bise (also in Talloires), where he had two Michelin stars. www.abbaye-talloires.com
A Michelin-starred chef at home! Julien Machet, who has one Michelin star for his restaurant Le Farçon in La Tania, can now come to holidaymakers' chalets and apartments to cook a gastronomic meal. He only uses local products. www.lefarcon.fr

The 2018 Michelin guide has awarded new stars to Savoie Mont Blanc. Savoie Mont Blanc now has 30 starred restaurants and chefs, with a total of 48 stars!
La Maison des Bois in Manigod has earnt a third star. Chef Jean Sulpice received two stars directly for his restaurant Auberge du Père Bise by Lake Annecy, which he opened last May. Les Fresques in Evian got its first star.
Creative gastronomic cuisine based on local products
Chef Marc Veyrat, who has three Michelin stars, has always been an advocate of using local plants and products. He has influenced the chef Jean Sulpice, who has recently been awarded two stars for his restaurant l'Auberge du Père Bise in Talloires. Sulpice includes local wild plants in his dishes and local products. Other Michelin-starred chefs – like Emmanuel Renaut (Flocons de Sel in Megève), René and Maxime Meilleur (La Bouitte in Saint-Martin-de-Belleville), Laurent Petit (Le Clos des Sens in Annecy) and Julien Machet (Le Farçon in La Tania) – also create inventive cuisine based on local products and plants.
Laurent Petit, who has two Michelin stars for his restaurant Le Clos des Sens in Annecy-le-Vieux, has a new vegetable and plant garden, which covers 1,000 square metres. Guests can walk around this large garden to learn about what is growing and how the chef uses it in his cuisine.
Heathy food
The days when most restaurants were only serving cheese and meat have ended. Many places now cater for vegetarians and vegans, and also opt for organic products.
Les Clarines in Valmorel has organic crozets. The Colibri in Morzine-Avoriaz makes delicious Buddha Bowls. Miss Clafoutis is a new tearoom in Combloux serving homemade organic treats like raspberry muffins, lemon cake and matcha cheesecake, as well as dairy-free and gluten-free cakes.
The Jumbo, in Thonon-les-Bains by Lake Geneva, is a vegetarian and organic restaurant – so is the Galerie Café des Aiguilles in Chamonix Mont-Blanc.
In La Clusaz, Chalet de Paccaly makes creative salads with local plants and flowers.
The menu of the Lac du Lou in the Belleville Valley is mainly vegetarian. In Les Saisies, the café Secrets des Alpes offers organic treats and delicious juices like the 'Detox One Shot'. The Enérgétique Artic in Val d'Isère serves healthy breakfasts and juices – try the Artic Vegan Bowl.
The Wood Bear Café in Les Arcs makes homemade lemonade with dandelion.
The Jardin du Taillefer in Les Sources du Lac d'Annecy serves delicious organic vegetarian food. Their signature dish is their vegan burger.
