Much Better Adventures launches 'Adventures for Good'
- New collection of 20 unique adventures lets travellers support important causes with active experiences in Ecuador, Chile, Belize, Iran, Peru, Australia, India, Canada, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia and Laos

Multi-award winning travel startup Much Better Adventures has launched 'Adventures for Good', a new collection of experiences, designed to support organisations tackling a local social, economic or environmental challenge.
All the experiences in the collection use adventure travel to fund impressive missions: from delivering medical aid in the Amazon on horseback, to supporting remote Indigenous communities in Australia by trekking, and helping to protect rivers in Albania and Chile - simply by rafting and kayaking on them.
One of the hosts, Crees Manu, invite adventure travellers to bike and hike through the remote Peruvian Rainforest and support their conservation of the Manu Biosphere Reserve – an area the size of Wales – which continues to be threatened by unsustainable farming, logging and mining. With the help of adventure tourism and citizen science, Crees have successfully protected 650 hectares of rainforest, supported local farmers and families with 23 sustainable agroforestry plots and planted over 30,000 native trees.
Adventures for Good is the latest series from Much Better Adventures who work exclusively with local hosts and guides around the world in an effort to combat economic leakage in tourism, with industry reports revealing that as little as $5 in $100 spent in a developing country can stay in the destination.
The launch is timely; 'responsible tourism' was top of in ABTA's 2018 travel trends report with 70% of people now believing that 'travel companies should ensure their holidays help the local people and economy'.
On the launch, co-founder Sam Bruce said, “We started this company on a mission to use travel as a force for good - too often it isn't in this industry. While all our experiences directly support local economies, our Adventures for Good collection takes this philosophy one step further. These adventures are truly the gold standard, and we hope that that showcasing them to all our hosts will also encourage them to take on their own local mission.”
Bruce added, “From the reaction to our film, Adventures Not Dams, about our rafting partners in Albania and their fight to save the Vjosa River, we know that our community care deeply about sustainability issues around the world and have an appetite to get involved. The criteria for the collection was developed with Tourism Concern, a UK charity that campaigns to reduce the human rights, social and environmental problems connected to tourism.
