‘SWEET STREET’ DESSERT FESTIVAL RETURNS TO SHANGRI-LA HOTEL, SYDNEY
Sydney, 1 June 2018 – Dessert lovers will rejoice in the return of Executive Pastry Chef Anna Polyviou’s Sweet Street, the dessert festival of the year, to Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney on 29 June 2018.
Sweet aficionados will embark on an indulgent journey into the deliciously vibrant world of sweet treats and funky beats and savour the tantalising flavours of Sydney’s leading culinary creators.
The all-star 2018 line-up includes Anna Polyviou, Adriano Zumbo, Blackstar Pastry, MakMak Macarons, Butter, Uncle Tetsu, Koi Dessert Bar, Kirsten Tibballs and Petal Met Sugar.
“Sweet Street is celebrating its fifth year in a row and I love that this epic event brings my friends together for a vibrant night of wicked desserts, where our guests can meet our incredibly talented sweet creators,” said Polyviou.
Polyviou will showcase a selection of her colourful creations, including Popping Caramel, which combines milk chocolate, popping crunch and passionfruit caramel, and Matcha Match, which blends matcha, crunchy cornflakes and strawberry.
She will exclusively launch her brand new Sweet Street cookbook, laden with show-stopping sweet treats and rock star desserts, bringing her distinctive style, unique creations and exciting flavours into the kitchen.
Festival goers will enjoy entertainment, including graffiti artists, break-dancers, rappers, a dessert-eating competition, arcade games, prizes and DJ spinning tunes, including by DJ Brown Rice.
Tickets to Sweet Street are priced at $85 per person and include eight tokens to redeem at any stall. Children’s tickets are $45 per child and include four tokens. Executive Pastry Chef Anna Polyviou
Anna Polyviou turned her creative eye to Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney’s sweetest experiences, becoming known for her renowned high tea and decadent dessert station at Café Mix, her luscious treats at Lobby Lounge and the Horizon Club, and her inventive in-room dining and banquet menus.
Polyviou is a judge on the brand-new prime-time cooking competition Family Food Fight and has appeared as a guest judge on MasterChef Australia for the third year in a row.
She has also created a Dessert Degustation series together with renowned sweets creators in the hotel’s pasty kitchen, as well as the annual Christmas Spectacular, which has become a destination on Sydney’s festive calendar.
In 2017, Polyviou took home the coveted “Chef of the Year” at the TAA Awards, hot on the heels of her win as “Pastry Chef of the Year” at the prestigious 2016 Gault&Millau Awards.
