J Street Hospitality purchased an existing vacant office building, formerly the headquarters of the San Francisco Water Department, in San Francisco's Union Square district.  Plans include converting the building into a 77-room AC Hotel featuring a rooftop bar and ground-level restaurant and bar, while retaining all historic elements.   The site is located one block away from Union Square, which is world-renowned for shopping, restaurant, hotel, and entertainment offerings.

San Francisco International Airport (SFO) hosted a groundbreaking event on June 20, 20917 to celebrate the start of construction on Grand Hyatt at San Francisco International Airport, a new luxury hotel located on airport grounds, expected to open in July 2019.    Grand Hyatt at SFO will feature 351 rooms, 15,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, a selection of full-service and casual restaurants, a Grand Club lounge and an extensive fitness center.  The hotel is being designed to achieve both a four-star designation and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification for environmentally sustainable design and operation. Located at the entrance to SFO, the 4.7-acre hotel site is close to terminal buildings and parking garages and enjoys direct access to the AirTrain light rail system.  SFO will construct and own the property, with Hyatt managing the property under the Grand Hyatt brand.  The $237 million Grand Hyatt at SFO is being designed by San Francisco-based architecture firm Hornberger + Worstell with ED2 International, and constructed by Webcor Builders.  The construction is expected to provide 350 jobs followed by an anticipated 200 hospitality jobs once the hotel opens.

The Presidio Trust has announced that its second hotel, Lodge at the Presidio, will open in 2018. Located in Presidio national park, Lodge at the Presidio will provide unparalleled views of the Golden Gate Bridge, the park's lush 300-acre forest, San Francisco Bay and the iconic city skyline. The 42-room lodge will be housed in the historic Montgomery Street barracks built by the U.S. Army in 1895-1897. The InterContinental Mark Hopkins has been named a San Francisco Green Business, making it the largest hotel by square footage and second largest building in the city to receive the recognition. The hotel spent two years working alongside the San Francisco Department of Environment, auditing its practices and implementing programs to become a more sustainable property focusing on waste management, pollution prevention, conservation, water management, and energy efficiency. To date, they replaced more than 8,000 lightbulbs to save on energy use, updated showerheads in nearly 400 guestrooms reducing water consumption, and diverted 187 tons of trash from landfills in 2017.

Towering 32 stories above the city and first opened in February 2008, the InterContinental San Francisco features 550 guestrooms and 14 suites (renovations debuting in April 2018) as well as 43,000 square feet of meeting space, which will undergo renovations this summer. New rooms have been completely redone with new beds, bedding, wall coverings, furniture – all with more of a residential feel.
