A New Chef for a New Year at Hotel G Yangon

Hotel G Yangon

Hotel G Yangon welcomes a new chef at Babett Eatery & Bar & reveals details of special Chinese New Year package

Since opening its doors four months ago, Hotel G Yangon has firmly established itself on the culinary and social map of this vibrant and re-energised city, gaining a name for itself amongst international travellers and locals for its laid back style, soulful vibe and trendy urban chic design. At the heart of the open-plan lobby is Babett Eatery & Bar, which recently welcomed a new Executive Chef, Christophe Buzare, who is busy rolling out a new menu to take the gourmet offerings of Yangon's latest lifestyle hotel to the next level.

Chef Christophe has developed a new menu for Babett that preserves the dishes that have proved most popular, but adding his own twist of French flair and flavour. New menu items includes his signature starter of Traditional Foie Gras Terrine with a Red Onion Marmalade with Brioche; as well as a Poached Snow Fish in a Lobster Bisque; and that all-time favourite, The Profiterole, served with Vanilla Ice Cream, Whipped Cream and Hot Chocolate Sauce. Chef Christophe's favourite local food market in Yangon is the early morning Thiri Mingalabar market, where he likes to buy tea leaves from the Shan State to make Laphet Thoke, Myanmar's most famous salad of pickled tea leaves, beans, peanuts, fried garlic and dried shrimp, which can be found on the menu at Babett. French by birth, Christophe Buzare has lived in Myanmar for almost eight years and is an alumnus of some of the greatest kitchens in the country, as well as his homeland. He began his culinary career as Commis de Cuisine at the Plazza Athenee, Paris, before graduating after seven years join the Michelin starred La Cote St. Jacques in Joigny, central France. Christophe moved to Myanmar in 2010, first working as Chef de Cuisine at the renowned Le Planteur restaurant in Yangon. He joins the team at Babett Eatery & Bar from being Executive Sous Chef for The Strand Yangon and The Strand Cruise, a luxury river cruiser on the Ayeyarwady River.
