Kuala Lumpur - 12 JANUARY 2018: YTL Classic Hotel, Cameron Highlands Resort, held its 11th annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. Taking place between the 17th to 19th November 2017, the sold-out event saw loyal guests and friends joined by invited members of the press and social media influencers for a weekend of Yuletide festivities. Staying true to the resort's tagline of “Trails, Tales and Traditions”, the weekend culminated in the traditional tree lighting ceremony where grand Norwegian Pine Trees fronting the resort lit up the night sky. It also signalled the start of the Christmas Market, marking its second appearance at the event. Packages for next year's event is already available via the Cameron Highlands Resort website.

The Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony kicked off with the resort's time-honoured ritual of English Afternoon Tea. Delectable oven-baked pastry was served alongside delicate finger sandwiches, homemade scones, velvety clotted cream, strawberry jam and fresh Cameronian strawberries. This afternoon delight was further complemented by an interactive booth, where guests were invited to decorate their own Christmas baubles and ornaments. It was also an afternoon of adventure and indulgence as some guests took the opportunity to join the resort's resident naturalist for the signature Jim Thompson Mystery Trail, while others took to the award-winning Spa Village Cameron Highlands for an afternoon of pampering and relaxation.

In the evening, guests adjourned to the Highlands Bar for pre-dinner cocktails and canapes before making their way to the grand hall, where a Christmas feast of classic roast dishes and indulgent sides awaited. Guests were later ushered to the resort's porte cochere for a welcome speech by host Geraldine Dreiser, YTL Hotels Vice-President of Marketing and Communications, who then called upon VIP guests, Mr. Neel Ramlugun and Ms. Lindsay Cameron, to officiate the ceremony. This year's lighting ceremony was especially memorable as it signalled a new beginning for the couple, who were to be married the following day.

The Christmas market was a hive of activity with stalls offering a range of gifts from vendors including Wanderlust + Co, Amazin' Graze, Buih & Co, Sanctuary Candles and Changgih Scarves amongst others. Other festive treats such as mulled wine, homemade jams, and fresh strawberries were also available at the market. The evening concluded with a nightcap and Christmas carolling in the Jim Thompson Tea Room, accompanied by the resort's resident pianist, Uncle Steven.

The Christmas Tree Lighting 2018 event will be held on 16th – 18th November 2018 and Packages are available for purchase via http://www.cameronhighlandsresort.com/pages/special-offers.html.
