Tigerair Australia Announces New State-of-the-Art Seats and in-Flight Entertainment Partersnhip

Tigerair

In-Flight Entertainment

In exciting news for travellers, Tigerair has today announced a plan to enter into a major inflight entertainment (IFE) content partnership with Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation (TCFF) and Fox Networks Group (FNG), that would provide customers with access to a broad range of recent release movie and TV titles.

The deal would be the first of its kind for Tigerair and Fox and was officially celebrated at the Airline Passenger Experience Expo (APEX EXPO) in California today. Once aircraft are installed with the new inflight entertainment, Tigerair will be the only Australian low-cost carrier to offer IFE across its entire domestic aircraft fleet.

As part of the proposed arrangement, recently released films and a range of current popular TV titles will be available to Tigerair customers using the Tigerair Australia app on their own personal mobile devices (phones and tablets) or through compatible (laptop) browsers.

Under the plan, movie content would be updated regularly in line with TCFF release dates which would see movies and TV product on-board Tigerair before its competitors. Movies and TV shows would be provided on a pay-per-view basis at competitive prices, while other destination based and music content will continue to be available free of charge.

New slimline leather seats

In further good news for Tigerair customers, the airline has today announced it will install state-ofthe-art, slimline leather seats* across its fleet of B737 aircraft from March 2018.

Features of the new seats include enhanced comfort, adjustable headrests, an additional storage pocket for personal items and a built in tablet/phone holder on the back of the seat complementing the airline's new IFE product.

The introduction of slimline seats will result in an additional six seats being added to Tigerair's B737 cabin configuration however, there will be no impact on passenger and crew space and comfort with seat pitch/legroom, toilet size and galley size all remaining the same.

Tigerair Australia Commercial Director, Andrew Maister, says the airline is continually looking at ways to enhance the customer experience and that today's announcements provide a tremendous boost in that area.

“The planned partnership with Twentieth Century Fox and Fox Networks Group open up a new world of entertainment for our customers, whilst our new leather, slimline seats will in my view, provide the most comfortable low-cost economy seats in the sky.

“These products complement each other really well, enabling our customers to enjoy a meal/drink and superior entertainment product inflight more comfortably than ever before.”

Tigerair Australia's inflight entertainment platform and content management is provided by ViaSat, a leading global provider of hardware and software solutions to the aviation industry.
