The Luxury Collection Unveils Its Latest Collaboration With Global Explorer Margherita Maccapani Missoni

Just in time for back to school season, The Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts is unveiling a new limited-edition children's backpack designed by Margherita Maccapani Missoni – designer, mother, and Global Explorer for the brand. The backpack's playful design and style is a tribute to the fashion designer's family vacation in Portugal with her husband and two young sons, where they stayed at Pine Cliffs Hotel, a Luxury Collection Resort, Algarve. Designed exclusively for The Luxury Collection and available for retail this month, this fun and functional children's piece marks Missoni's second collaboration with the brand. 

 

In addition to capturing the spirit of the destination, Missoni's design is influenced by her children and the memories they made at the luxury seafront hotel, which spans 170 acres across the Algarve coastline.  The second in its series, Missoni's newest children's backpack for The Luxury Collection follows on the heels of her first design, which was inspired by a trip to Vienna with her son Otto.

 

“I have always loved to travel and I find that it is a great way to connect as a family, where we can share our favorite destinations with our sons and discover new ones together,” said Missoni. “While it can definitely be more complicated to travel with children, I think it's important for them to have a healthy sense of adventure and I believe that traveling is always possible if you just put some planning into action,” she added. “With this in mind, I created a new backpack with The Luxury Collection to ensure that my two young sons are always entertained while we're on-the-go, with plenty of pockets to corral the kids' snacks and toys so that they are easily accessible.”

 

The limited-edition backpack features a lively print of swimming fish traditionally associated with the Algarve region in various hues of bright blue, orange, and green. The colorful patterns on the fish are inspired by traditional Portuguese hand-painted tiles called azulejos. Made with an easy-to-wash polyester material, the bag is both durable and functional, with a top handle and adjustable padded shoulder straps in a deep pink hue. The stylish backpack also features convenient compartments for all the essentials, including a transparent polyurethane front zip pocket for easy access to small toys and snacks, and turquoise stretchable mesh side pockets designed to hold water bottles.

About Margherita Maccapani Missoni Amos:

Born in Northern Italy, Margherita Maccapani Missoni Amos, is the eldest daughter of Angela Missoni, Creative Director of the renowned Missoni brand, and the granddaughter of the house's founders. Having grown up in the idyllic countryside of Sumirago, amidst a family of fashion designers, Amos developed a keen eye and a unique sense of personal style from at a very young age. She also dreamed of becoming a designer like the women in her family.

 

After University, Amos studied drama in New York, then moved to Paris and Rome to pursue a career in acting. During this time, Amos also functioned as Missoni Brand Ambassador. Amos eventually settled back in Sumirago and began consulting on important projects, such as the Missoni for Target collaboration, and eventually joined the Missoni creative team as the Designer of Accessories, Swim, and Missoni Girls. 

 

Amos then met her husband, Eugenio, a race car driver, and shortly thereafter started a family of her own. Following the birth of her two sons, the fashion darling brought her innate sense of style, entrepreneurial spirit and personal experience as a mum to her distinguished kidswear collection, Margherita Kids, which launched in March 2015.

 

Amos is frequently featured in pages of women's fashion magazines around the world for her own personal style & fashion. She regularly appears on best-dressed lists, which has led to additional collaborations for both herself and the Margherita Kids brand.
