Ramblers Walking Holidays

Labelled as a hot holiday destination throughout the year, Majorca cools down in the Autumn, with peak holidaymakers heading for home and temperatures pleasantly panning out to the mid 20s, making it an ideal time to more tranquilly explore the island on foot, yet still with the promise of a warm ocean dip at the end of the day.

Making the best of the island's sunny disposition, Ramblers Walking Holidays (01707 331133, www.ramblersholidays.co.uk) the original walking holiday specialists, offer the choice of two autumnal week long breaks taking in some of the island's top coastal and inland trails.

Based in the lagoon port of Puerto de Soller and in the south-west seaside settlement of San Telmo, these seven night holidays have also been cleverly designed to be combined for a longer two week break.

Walking from Puerto de Soller (moderate – grade 4 or moderate & challenging – grade 4 & 7)

Following remote coastal and mountain paths on the North West of Majorca bordering the Sierra de Tramuntana range, Walking from Puerto de Soller covers aromatic trails through fertile hills cultivated in orchards of olive, carob, fig and citrus. Based in the picturesque coastal port of Puerto de Soller, where the mountains meet the sea, access to some of the islands best walks are literally on the doorstep. Highlights include rambling through the lemon and orange groves in the beautiful small village of Soller, a walk through farmland and along the cliff tops with great sea views to one of the island's best beaches Cala Tuent and the hike down the gorge Es Barranc along the old Pilgrim's Way. This holiday also includes the opportunity to book a two grade departure, lead by two leaders, that caters to different levels of fitness with a choice of an easier or harder walking option each day.

Ramblers Walking Holidays (01707 331133, www.ramblersholidays.co.uk) Walking from Puerto de Soller one week half board holiday starts from £1055/person including return flights, en-suite B&B accommodation, dinner at hotel and local restaurants, all local transport costs. Departures 23 September 2017, 7 & 14 October 2017 with flights available from Heathrow, Manchester & Birmingham.

Walking from San Telmo (moderate – grade 5)

From a superbly located waterfront base in the attractive seaside settlement of San Telmo, this week long walking holiday covers a mix of unspoilt mountain and coastal trails on the south-west of Majorca. Affording exceptional vistas throughout, scenic highpoints include the challenging climb around the hills of S'Arraco along Archduke's Trail for heady mountain and seascape views.   In addition to great walking, time is also spent a short boat ride away on uninhabited island of Dragonera picnicking and exploring the pretty, culture rich, hillside village of Valldemossa where Frederic Chopin and George Sand famously spent the winter of 1838.

Ramblers Walking Holidays (01707 331133, www.ramblersholidays.co.uk) Walking from San Telmo one week half board holiday starts from £915/person including return flights, en-suite accommodation, and all local transport costs. Departures 9, 16 & 30 September 2017, 7 & 14 October 2017 with flights available from Heathrow, Manchester & Birmingham.

Taking in the best of the west of the island, a combined San Telmo and Soller break starts from £1,450/person for departures on 30 September and 7 October 2017.
