Lobos Open Water Swim, October TBC:

Each year, around 200 competitors travel to Fuerteventura to swim the 3,400m stretch between Corralejo on the northeast coast of Fuerteventura, to the Island of Lobos. The annual event is open to anyone between the ages of 16 and 70. It is a one of a kind experience that is the perfect opportunity to bring locals and tourists together, with live music playing on both shores as well as food and drink stalls to enjoy. La Bocaina Open Water Swim, 28 October:

La Bocaina is a challenging 15km open water swim between Playa Blanca, situated in the South of Lanzarote, and Corralejo in Fuerteventura. For 17 consecutive years athletes from around the globe have come together to compete in one of the biggest endurance tests in the Canary Islands. The challenge can take competitors four to seven hours to complete, with a warm reception always guaranteed from the crowds on the beach at Corralejo, just minutes from the Gran Hotel Atlantis Bahía Real. The Fudenas, 28/29 October:

The Fudenas is an off-road cycling event that runs over two days, spanning from the north to the south of the island. The ride is 188km and is a particularly difficult challenge, with 90% of the route off-road. Approximately 800 cyclists gather to compete in the challenge which starts in Corralejo and finishes in Morro Jable. The entry fee is €65. www.fudenas.com

International Half Marathon in the Dunes of Fuerteventura, 4 November:

This unique half marathon takes place in the heart of the Natural Park 'Dunas de Corralejo'. The ninth edition of the half marathon will see 300 participants embrace the stunning, sparse beauty of the dunes during the three hour challenge. For guests who don't want to participate, the white sandy dunes of the Natural Park can be seen from the comfort of the Gran Hotel Atlantis Bahia Real. The entry fee is €35.
