Unclimbed Peaks of Bhutan: The Hidden Himalayas
Date of Departure: 22 Oct - 06 Nov 2017
As part of an arduous ten-day trek, the primary aim of this epic Bhutanese trekking expedition is to make a summit attempt on a rarely climbed and we believe unnamed 5400m mountain. At the summit the team will be rewarded with clear views of the world's highest unclimbed mountain, Gangkhar Puensum.
Highlights:
- Attempt to summit an unnamed mountain at 5400m (attempted only once – by Secret Compass in spring 2017).
- View the world's highest unclimbed mountain, Gangkhar Puensum (7570m), considered sacred and banned from future climbs.
- Fly past Mount Everest, Kanchenjunga and Jomolhari on your journey into Bhutan.
- Explore ancient fortresses including the precipitous Tiger's Nest monastery.
- Trek for ten days through rugged and remote valleys that few have seen.
- Follow in the 'Walking the Himalayas' footsteps of adventurer Levison Wood
Mt Kilimanjaro: The alternative route to the summit
Date of Departure: 08 - 17 Oct 2017
Putting a spin on the classic bucket-list adventure challenge, Secret Compass' expedition to summit the highest peak in Africa and the world's tallest freestanding mountain, Mt Kilimanjaro, won't just 'tick the list'. The Northern Circuit Route will take the team away from the tourist trail to across the Shira plateau, up the Shira ridge and finally Uhuru peak before descending by the Mweka route.
Highlights:
- Summit the highest peak in Africa, one of the Seven Summits.
- Avoid the crowds found on the more frequented trails.
- Witness Kilimanjaro's rapidly retreating glacial ice fields.
- Cross the UNESCO listed Shira plateau.
- Trek through a variety of volcanic landscapes.
Mt Saramati: SE Asia's most prominent peak
Date of Departure: 10 - 26 Nov 2017
This jungle expedition will forge a path to the summit of Mount Saramati (3,826m). Frequently climbed from the Indian side, this expedition will take on the challenge to summit from the Burma/Myanmar side, where there is no established route. Completing this challenging and multi-day expedition will mean that this team has achieved the extraordinary, on a tough route punctuated by stays in welcoming Naga villages.
Highlights:
- Climb Mount Saramati, on the border with India.
- Camp in and near Naga villages en route.
- Experience traditional Naga culture.
- Visit a remote, hardly visited part of Burma/Myanmar.
- Straddle the Burma/Myanmar-India border.
