Those looking to combine a sunny beach break with great music this summer should look no further than Tenerife. As the largest of the Canary Islands, Tenerife has idyllic beaches, all year-round sun and is this summer hosting a number of unmissable music festivals and concerts. The main event, which has been dubbed the most important music event in the Canary Islands for the past 30 years, is the final gig of Aerosmith's farewell tour on 8th July.
Also lined up are concerts from electro house musician Steve Aoki, DJ Kayper, as well as the singer of the UK's current number one, “Despacito”, Luis Fonsi, who will all be performing in Tenerife during the months of July and August.
Here are the highlights of Tenerife's music events and festivals, which will be taking place over the summer:
Heineken Canary Islands Jazz Festival
Across the island, 7th – 23rd July 2017
This festival has been paying tribute to jazz and its multiple identities since 1992. American vocalist Charenée Wade and Cuban Alfredo Rodríguez Trio will kick off the event on 7th July, which will also be hosting English singer Jacob Collier and American musicians Becca Stevens and Cory Henry. The jazz music extravaganza will be also touring the other four Canary Islands at the same time.
Aerosmith Concert
Santa Cruz, 8th July 2017
Santa Cruz is ready to make music history when American rock band, Aerosmith, play their final European concert of the Aero-Vederci Baby! Farewell tour in Tenerife. The city's Heliodoro Rodríguez López Stadium will host the legendary band's last European concert. The concert is considered one of the most important musical events in the Canary Islands in the last three decades.
Luis Fonsi Concert
Santa Cruz, 22nd July 2017
His name may not immediately ring the bell but his song “Despacito” will. Luis Fonsi is the Puerto Rican singer and composer behind the catchy track which has been remixed by Justin Bieber. “Despacito” has become the longest-running foreign language number one in UK chart history so Luis Fonsi's Tenerife concert is a great excuse to practise the memorable lyrics.
Arona Summer Festival
Amarilla Golf, 5th August 2017
Steve Aoki, Michael Calfan, Kryder, Atica and Deejay Dario are some of the artists who will be performing at this year's Arona Summer Festival. Every August, this electronic music festival gathers the best DJs in the international music industry in the south of the island. The music event features an on-site campsite for those who wish to make the most of the atmosphere.
Sunblast Festival
Golf Costa Adeje, 12th August 2017
Sunblast is the biggest electronic music festival in the Canary Islands. Taking place in Golf Costa Adeje, conveniently located close to the resorts in the south of the island, Sunblast will feature four different stages on which over 25 international DJs will be playing electro and dance music from 2.30pm until midnight. The line-up for this year include Barely Alive, Mija, Kayper, Dirtyphonics and Edu Imbernon.
